1st Person POV

In the morning, me and Tanjiro set off to go back home, waving goodbye to old man Saburo as I cleared the snow in our path.

We enjoyed a quiet and peaceful walk together, the snow softly crunching under our feet, crows cawing in the distance, yet outside it was overall just calm.

As we kept walking, Tanjiro stopped at one point, sniffing the air.
"Is something wrong?"
I ask, worrying when his expression shifted from worried to that of panic and fear.
"Tanjiro?"

"It smells like blood!"
His voice cracks, and I feel my heart stop.

He starts running, and I follow close behind, neither of us believing what had been horribly laid out in front of us once we reached home.

A pool of blood had tinted the snow red, and just on top lay Nezuko and Rokuta, barely moving.

We both rush over to them, worried and panicked.

"Nezuko! What happened?!"
Tanjiro yells, and as I approach the house and see the door open, I slowly walk inside, my steps leaving behind a sticky noise.

No...

Not again...

My stomach turns and I gag, covering my mouth to prevent me from puking at the sight.

Everyone was dead, their corpses sprawled over the broken floor and fallen wall panels, the warm home that I'd left just last morning now cold and destroyed.

Tanjiro collapses to his knees, barely able to breathe from the shock he's in once he looks inside.
Immediately I rush to his side and hold onto him.

His eyes won't move away, one of his hands holding onto me so tight it was painful, his body shaking.

I know the kinds of emotions he's probably experiencing right now. Just imagining the fact he's most likely suffering like I did makes me cry, tightly hugging him as he cried, burying his face in my shoulder so he wouldn't look at the gruesome sight anymore.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot Nezuko move her finger. Barely, if even at all, but it was something.

I get out from Tanjiro's grip and go check on Nezuko, my hand on her neck as I try feeling for a pulse, seeing her shift very slightly.

"Nezuko's still alive!!"
I call out to Tanjiro, who doesn't waste more than a second to pick her up after I wrap my robe over her shoulders to keep her warm.

The both of us run down the mountain as fast we can, my bending easing us along the way. We have to take Nezuko to a doctor! She can still make it!

Disbelief and terror washes over us, and we don't even have the time to exchange a glance as we run as fast we can.

I notice Tanjiro slowing down, and I grab his hand to drag him a little faster.

I see movement yet again, and this time I look in surprise at Nezuko, but soon it turns into suspicion as something seems odd about her.
