1st Person POV

"A way to turn a demon into a human again? There is."

Tanjiro and I are completely taken aback.
So there was a way to bring Nezuko back?!

"Please, tell us how!"

"There is always some kind of medicine or aid, no matter the wound or ailment. I don't know how to turn a demon back into a human yet, but there must be a way. And I promise we are going to find it."

I feel a smile creep up on me, the gentle determination in her eyes giving me comfort.

"We are determined to establishing such a treatment. Toward that end, I'd like to ask you two a favor."

We nod.

"In order to discover a cure, the first step is studying the blood of several different demons. Which means I have two favors to ask you. First, I'd like to ask you for permission to study your sister's blood."

"And second, I need more samples. I need you to retrieve them from demons as closely related to Kibutsuji as possible. Nezuko's condition is extremely rare, perhaps entirely unique. I understand she was asleep for two straight years, and I believe her body changed during that time."

We kept listening, very invested in every word she said, especially at the possibility of finding a faster cure for Nezuko.

"In most cases, that long without food, neither human flesh nor any blood of some type of animal, any demon would grow violent. However, against all odds, Nezuko shows none of those signs, and that miracle could be the key to finding a solution."

I look at Nezuko, and feel a small droplet of sadness within me as I move to hold her hand, Tanjiro brushing his against her forehead.

She looked between us, closing her eyes at our affectionate gestures.

Nezuko...
I know I may not be the perfect older sister, but I promise I'll protect you.
I failed before, but I won't let myself fail now. Tanjiro and I will be there for you, and we'll find a way to turn you back.

Avatar's promise.

"My second request, however, is not a simple one. When I say demons closely related to Kibutsuji, I mean those with powers much like Kibutsuji himself. Extracting blood from that kind of demon is extremely difficult. But what do you think? Are these requests acceptable?"

I don't need a second more, feeling Nezuko return the hold on my hand.
"Yes. I've failed at protecting someone dear to me before, and now I'm willing to do anything to keep others away from that fate."

"We'll do it. If you can truly create this medicine, then so many more people will be saved."

Tanjiro and I smile at each other, sharing a nod.

Yushiro now seems frightened, yelling at all of us.
"Get down!"

We do so, and suddenly something broke through the wall, crashing around the room as it didn't seem to stop.
