Chapter 25

He already knew my situation? And yet... he didn't reached out to me? How... How could he?

He scoffed.

And I wanted to just open the door and looked at him.

Is he crying? Is he angry?

"How can you trust him more than me, Ri?" he asked.

"I am your bestfriend for more than three years and yet," his voice broke. "And yet you didn't tell me that you're not okay."

I cried as heard him say that. I stopped myself from sobbing so he can't hear me but he did.

"Riri? Are you there?" he asked as I felt my heart race.

Mom told me to let it all go. My anger towards them that night but how can I do that if that night he was blinded by his dreams on becoming who he is right now.

He achieved his dreams but I am still here who achieved nothing.

"Eleina, can we talk? Please." he begged.

I let out a deep sigh.

I texted Jorge first, that I'll be talking to Keith here in my unit and I'll just call him if I needed something. Then he replied.

From Jorge:

Call me immediately. Papunta na ako dyan.

I unlocked my door and when I opened it he seemed shocked. Maybe he didn't thought that I'll open the door for him.

I stepped back when he is about to hug me and anxiety started to creep on me. I hate it. I hate this.

Why did we end up like this? Me being afraid of him and him being sorry.

"S-Sorry." he said and I remained on where I'm standing.

This is torturing the both of us. Neither of us want this to happen. No one wanted this. We just wanted to be happy... with each other. But things happened.

"Nagkunwari akong hindi ko alam ang nangyari sa 'yo pero matagal ko nang... matagal ko nang alam, Lei." umiiyak niyang sabi sa harap ko.

Ngunit hindi ako nag salita. Nag desisyon akong huwag mag salita sa harap niya.

"Pasensya na sa pag pilit ko sa 'yo noong gabing 'yon. Sinabi sa akin ni Tita na lumala ang sitwasyon mo dahil sa pamimilit na ginawa ko. That's why I'm sorry."

Hindi pa rin ako nag salita. Hinayaan kong tumulo ang mga luha ko dahil nasasaktan ako sa sinasabi niya. Nasasaktan ako para sa aming dalawa.

"Everytime I saw you with that man, I am mad. Galit ako sayo, Lei."

Agad akong napatingin sa kanya at sinampal siya. Nagulat naman ako dahil sa ginawa ko. Nagulat rin ako dahil biglang sumulpot si Jorge sa pagitan naming dalawa at inilayo ako agad kay Keith.

"How dare you say that in front of me!" hindi ko napigilang isigaw sa harap niya.

"Eleina," pigil sa akin ni Jorge.

"I was there for you since day one, Keith!" sigaw ko.

"Since day one I was there to support your dream! Pero ano?! You were blinded by the fame you have! Hindi mo na ako naisip! Ni walang konsiderasyon sa kalagayan ko, Keith!" I cried.

"Please, Eleina. Enough." narinig kong bulong sa akin ni Jorge habang hinahagod ang braso kong hawak-hawak niya.

Nagpakawala ako ng hininga at muling nag salita.

"Jorge was there for me." I said to him that made him looked at me.

"Siya yung nandyan para sa akin, Keith. Kung saan ikaw sana ang nasa posisyon niya."

I saw pain in his eyes. It was evident.

"I expected you to be always beside me, Keith. Kasi ayun ang ginawa ko. Pero wala eh. Nabulag ka sa kasikatang nakuha mo at ngayon hihingi kayo ng tulong sa akin?"

"Lei, hindi. Hindi totoong nabulag ako sa kasikatan. Ayoko lang mawala lahat ng napaghirapan namin, Eleina. Please."

"Ayaw mong mawala ang lahat ng pinaghirapan niyo?" sarkastiko kong sabi.

"Pero ayos lang na ako yung nawala sa buhay mo." natawa kong sinabi sa kanya.

"Eleina, hindi. Hindi ko gusto ang nangyari sa atin. Patawarin mo ako." he begged.

"Pero nangyari na, Keith! Nasira mo na 'ko!" sigaw ko sa kanya sabay tulak nang naramdaman kong lumuwag ang pagkakahawak sa akin ni Jorge.

Keith stumbled and he immediately kneeled in front of me. Just like the old times.

"Please, Lei. Patawarin mo 'ko sa nagawa ko." he begged.

"And what can I benefit if I'll forgive you right here, right now."

Agad naman akong napaatras dahil sa pagkakahila sa akin ni Jorge.

"Ano ba, Jo!" singhap ko sa kanyang ginawa.

"If you're not going to forgive him, then don't." mariin niyang sinabi sa akin.

Agad naman akong napasigaw nang biglang nawala sa harap ko si Jorge dahil sa pagkakatulak sa kanya ni Keith. Ngayon ay nakapatong si Keith kay Jorge at pinagsusuntok.

"Keith, ano ba! Tama na!" sigaw ko sa ka sabay hila sa kanya patayo pero hindi siya nagpatinag!

Naitulak niya pa ako ng kaunti at nakita iyon ni Jorge.

"Eleina," he called but Keith punched him.

"How dare you pull her away from me!" sigaw ni Keith habang sinusuntok si Jorge.

"You're not even a thing!" Keith added and that's when Jorge snapped.

Nasuntok niya nang napakalakas si Keith kaya naman natumba si Keith at si Jorge naman ang nakapatong kay Keith.

Pinagsusuntok ni Jorge si Keith hanggang sa pumutok na ang bunganga nito.

"Jorge, tama na!" sigaw ko sabay hila nang kanyang damit.

My tears won't stop as I was watching the two of them fighting because of me.

"Wala kang karapatan sumbatan ako ng kung ano dahil wala ka sa posisyon ko!" galit na giit ni Jorge.

I hugged Jorge to make him stop and he did. I hugged him tight as I continue to cry. He stood up and I hugged him tighter.

"Please, tama na." I cried in his back and then he faced me.

"Tama na. Hm?" I told him as I was looking right in his eyes.

Jorge cupped my face and kissed the top of my head.

"I'm sorry," he whispered as he hugged me back.

Keith left a minute after that. I made it clear for him that I'll never forgive him for what he did.

Ten minutes after that, Manuel arrived at my unit and he's mad on what happened. Panay sermon niya kay Jorge habang ako naman ay hindi mahiwalay kay Jorge dahil natatakot pa rin sa nangyari.

Pero nang tiningnan ako ni Emmanuel sa mga mata ay agad akong naiyak ulit ay tumakbo sa kanya.

"God, you're shaking." he said as I hugged him tight.

"You're gonna pay for this, you son of a—"

"Wala siyang kinalaman dito, Mau. Sinabihan ko siya na mag-uusap kami ni Keith."

"And you didn't bothered to tell me that? Ako na kambal mo?"

I looked down and the only thing I said was, "I'm sorry, Mau." as I buried my face in his chest.

Naramdaman kong biglang humina ang aking tuhod. Muntikan na akong matumba sa sahig kung hindi lang ako hawak hawak ng kambal ko.

"I think you need to rest." Jorge said as he checked on me.

"You think? Sapakin kita dyan eh." sabi naman ni Manuel sa kanya.

Manuel was with me the whole time while I didn't know what happened to Jorge. The last thing I knew is he kissed the top of my head and he told me to have a good night sleep.
