Chapter 8

Nicks pov

"You have to tell her how you feel Nick" Kevin stated and Danielle walked over with Alena
"Hey Nick how ya doing?" She smiled and the sight of my niece made me smile
"Im alright.." I lied and Joe punched my arm
"Okay that was a lie. Im a wreck. I need some advice from my sister in law" I sighed
"What's wrong Nick?"
"It's Marissa.. You know that girl I met seven years ago in the hospital?"
"Yes I know her. I follow her on Instagram and Twitter she's such a happy girl. Beautiful too! Do you finally want to be with her?" She laughed
"Actually Dani.." Kevin mumbled and whispered something in her ear. I knew he told her Marissa had cancer by the way she started crying.. I handed Joe my phone and places my face in my hands again. Sobs came out.
"Hey.. Uh We'll call you later.." I heard Joe
"Alright.. Send Marissa my love.." Dani cried and the call ended. Moments later my phone was ringing again
"Hello?" Joe answered I walked to the bathroom to splash some cold water on my face
"Nick.." Joe knocked on the bathroom door and I unlocked it
"Demi called. She wants you to call her back when you can. She also said to tell Marissa.. Or she will.."
"She can't. She doesn't know Marissa like us. She's never met her" I sighed
"Really Nick?! Fine. I'll have Joe keep me updated. Don't forget. You told me she was a huge fan of mine. Im sure I can get through to her somehow." Demi's voice came out of the phone.
"Okay okay. I just need to figure out how.."

Marissa's pov

I walked to the kitchen and overheard my parents talking.
"We need to call her sister.. Have her come here.." My mom sighed
"Mom..?" I asked and my parents looked to me
"Oh sweetie! What's wrong are you sick?"
"No mom.. Im just hungry.." I rolled my eyes and walked to the fridge.
"Why are you calling Tiffany?" I asked
"So your father can go back to work and so I can get a teaching job"
"I'll be fine on my own mom I'll probably be in the hospital a lot. Just work again. Do what makes you happy!" I shouted and tears brimmed her eyes
"Mom. We moved here seven years ago so I could go to the best GI surgeon in the United States. Dad found work and he's been out because of me for two weeks. Daddy go back to work. Mom do what you love! Just because we found out I have Cancer in my stomach doesn't mean anything. It's an obstacle I'll overcome. I can handle it." I stated and my mom hugged me. There was a knock at the door and my father went to get it
"Glad you're back Nick !" My dad laughed and I walked back to the living room.
"Hey can I t-" he was cut off by the doorbell I opened the door to see Aby.
"Hey I have to go to an appointment I just wanted to stop by and give you this! I'll see you tomorrow!" She hugged me and handed me a bag
"Oh okay thanks!" I shouted and she ran to her moms car. I turned and Nick was laughing
"What?" I asked
"Nothing. I need to talk to you" he became serious quick
"Uh.. Kay.." I lead him to my room, I placed the bag Aby gave me on my computer desk and sat in my chair while he sat on my bed.
"Okay so I've been told by basically everyone what I need to tell you this as soon as possible.. And I've been trying not to because you're my best friend. Right you're my best friend?" He asked and I opened the bag
"Yes Nick Im you're best friend. You also have Demi too.. Demi Lovato.. Which Im completely jealous of" I laughed and took a notebook out of the bag Aby brought followed by a purple water bottle. I grinned and placed it to the side
"Look at me.." Nick whispered and I turned to look at him
"Sorry. You know how I am" I laughed and placed my hands on my lap
"Don't be sorry. But.. Okay.. I uh.. Marissa .. I think I'm in love with you.."
