Chapter 9

Marissa's pov

"I think I'm in love with you.." He mumbled and I sat there I didn't know how to respond. What does someone say to that?

I think I love you too

Say it. Why can't I just say it. It's true
"I don't know what to say.." I mumbled and he knelt in front of me
"You don't have to say anything. I don't expect you to feel the same way. I just want you to know. Im in love with you. I have been for five out of the seven years of friendship. You don't care that I'm famous. You love me for me as a friend"
"You're not just telling me because I'm sicker than before.. Right.." I mumbled and he shook his head
"No. I've just waited too long." He sighed and I looked down to my hands. Why couldn't I just say it back. I need to say it back..

I love you too.. I've always loved you. You were always with someone else..

"I.. I um.. I.." I was stuttering.

It's not hard to say! I love you. See not hard at all!

"Nick.." I sighed and he took one of my hands
"Marissa it's fine" he laughed
"I just had to get it off my chest. Every time I see you the feels become stronger." He smiled and kissed my hand
"I love you too.." I whispered and his eyes looked into mine
"You do?"
"I do.. You always had a girlfriend. So I hid those feelings.. I had to. Like you said earlier. You're my best friend. It could ruin the friendship you know?" I mumbled and he nodded
"It's a risk Im willing to take. I can't keep going for the wrong girl when you've been there all along"
"Demi has been there all along." I laughed
"Marissa. Demi is like my sister. She has Wilmer and they're happy. And again she's like my sister" he laughed also
"I don't want to sound mean.. But we should just let things happen naturally. Not push anything.. I could be gone t-"
"Stop" he gave me a stern look and I nodded
"Im just saying."
"I know you are. But I agree. Let things just happen."

Nicks pov

Hours had passed, Marissa was asleep on the couch and I was getting my shoes on
"Will we see you tomorrow?" Mrs. Nesbitt asked and I nodded
"Yeah, I got her friend Aby's number from her earlier I'll pick her up and we'll meet you at the hospital or here?"
"Hospital. Meet us there just text her or call her to find out where we are exactly" she smiled and hugged me

I got to the house and saw Joe on the couch, it was pretty late what was he doing awake?
"Joe?"
"Oh hey man. How is she?" He rubbed his face as if to wake himself up
"She's alright. I told her. Why aren't you in bed?" I asked
"Oh I couldn't sleep in my room so I came out here and I ended up falling asleep. Then you said my name and we're here!" He laughed
"Go to bed man.. It's late."

I woke up, brushed my teeth, grabbed my
Shoes and changed my shirt before I ran to my car calling Marissa's friend.
"Hello"
"Aby? It's Nick."
"What's up ?" She asked
"You're going to the hospital right?"
"Yeah I was just about to ask my mom to take me. Are you going?" I heard her walking around
"Actually yeah right now. I'll pick you up. Text me your address. I'll see you in a few"
"Alright yeah I'll send it right now" she laughed and ended the call
