2 weeks later

it's graduation day. oh my god. i'm about to finish high school. this is not happening.

"tess, are you ready?" payton asks, opening my bedroom door.

"yeah, let's go."

at the school

we're all standing here with our gowns and caps on, waiting for our diplomas. people get called up, people do speeches. now it's my turn.

"tessalyn cambridge." i get handed my diploma and i give my speech.

"highschool, it was terrible. it was not fun, i did not enjoy my time going to school in the slightest. but, there are two people that i met at this school that have been an amazing part of my life. quinton schultz. quinton taught me something. he showed me compassion and love and i learned from him, how to walk away from something i thought i wanted. he showed me that i don't need to stay just because someone wanted me to. he showed me that in the end everything that happens in my life that i have the ability to control is ultimately my decision. that i shouldn't let someone make up my mind for me. thank you quinton. the second person, payton moormeier. my husband. you have made me the person i am today. even when we fight, even when you can't remember me, even when you barely knew me, even when i wasn't there for you. you never left me. you never stopped caring. you never gave up. and i hope you never will. high school. you sucked. you sucked so bad. but you brought me my husband. and for that, i am grateful. oh also i don't thank you for bringing me jackson because he's terrible and he tried to r*pe me so
uh yeah no thanks for that. oh and payton saved me from that situation too so thank you payton. and high school, stop making people's lives suck." i say and walk away.

"oh wait i almost forgot," i stop and then move my tassle thing, "there we go." i walk off stage. i wait for a while until payton's name gets called.

"payton moormeier." he gets handed his diploma and gives his speech.

"wow. we made it. it took wayyyy too long honestly. the only thing that ever made this school worth going to was tess. cause she's my wife and i love her so much and her friends are nice i like her friends. but uh yeah high school i will not miss you, i didn't learn much. so uh yeah." he says and turns his tassle then walks away. eventually everyone has gone and we're all just standing here.

"ladies and gentlemen, i present to you, the graduating class of 2021." we all throw our caps up into the air.
