Chapter 15: Anirudh's Dilemma

It was morning already. Anirudh and Bondita got prepared to leave for Tulsipur. Bondita told Sampurna to take care of her unborn child and also not to forget to call the couple in the baby's naming ceremony.

"Why they won't call us Bondita! Saurabh is my childhood friend. I will surely come to his child's naming ceremony even if they send us the invitation or not." - uttered Anirudh with a wide smile on his face

"Obviously Jamai babu, you know it very well that the first invitation which we would send will be to Roy Chaudhary mansion but before that Bondita you tell me when will you give us the happy news." - Sampurna

"Happy news? What do you mean didi?" - asked Bondita being puzzled

"About being pregnant? You are 23 already, when I was at your age Chitra was 3 years old already. Jamai babu, can't you see buaa (referring to Sumati maa) obviously she too need someone to call her grandmother." - Sampurna

Sampurna's words made the couple's smile vanish. Anirudh looked towards Bondita while she was just was moan about where her and Anirudh's relationship belong. Grabbing up herself she changed the topic.

"Didi, isn't Chitra there to call maa "grandmother"? You too think maa as your mother too right? Or you don't! - Bondita

"Obviously I do but..." - Sampurna

"No excuses didi! Pati babu do you want to stay here for ages? Kaka Sasur Ji will kill us if we don't return home by evening. Maa take care of Sampurna didi more. I think from the moment she went to Kolkata she had forgotten the bond which she had with you. Pati babu, what are you looking at me! Don't you wanna do back, let's leave!" - said Bondita acting annoyed

Anirudh gave a forced smile to Bondita and nodded his head. The couple then bade a goodbye to Sumati maa, Sampurna and her parents.

As Anirudh was busy driving his car he was frequently looking at Bondita with a puzzled gaze. Meanwhile Bondita was busy enjoying the scenery.

"Bondita today tackled Sampurna's question so maturely. I was afraid about how to reply to Sampurna. Did Bondita tackled the question just simply without a thought or did she had been already known that I can give her all the happiness by being her descent companion, a teacher, a friend but I just can't.. I just can't give her the feeling of love which she should get from a husband!" - uttered Anirudh in his mind

"Pati babu.. Pati babu.. what are you thinking so much?" - Bondita

"Bondita we are friends right?" - Anirudh

"Best friends I can say! You know me more than anyone else in the world, maa is an exception." - Bondita

"Yes, I know that you are very close to Sumati maa." - uttered Anirudh smiling

"Then why you asked this weird question out of nowhere?" - Bondita

"Bondita, have you ever felt that you need to hide things from me?" - Anirudh

Bondita got struck as she knew that she couldn't utter to him about her feelings as it would only make Anirudh distant from her.

"Why would I? You tell me Pati babu do you have such things that you have to hide from me? Wait a second, Pati babu you.. you didn't ate those rasgullas which I left 12 years ago before leaving and told you not to touch it rather give it to poor children!" - uttered Bondita acting naive

"No Bondita, how can I eat 20 handis of rasgulla but yes, if you would've been there you would've ate it already." - said Anirudh teasing her

"Wait! Pati babu you think I only know to eat rasgullas?" - Bondita
