{This was requested. An AU where Luz only speaks Spanish so no one on the boiling isles understands her. Sorry if I get the Spanish wrong I'm using google translate.}

Eda was cooking in the kitchen when her human friend came down the stairs.
"Buenos días," Eda said to the small child. Ever since Luz had started staying with Eda, Eda started learning Spanish. Luz only knew how to speak Spanish which means communication was limited between the two but Eda wanted to change that.

Empezaste a aprender Español?" Luz asked.
(Translation: Did you start learning Spanish?)
"Si," Eda answered and Luz smiled brightly.
"Desayuno?" Luz asked trying to keep her sentences as simple as possible. (Translation: Breakfast?)
Eda flipped through the Spanish book she had to find the word. Eda smiled and handed Luz the plate of toast she had made for her.
"Gracias," Luz smiled and started to eat. (Translation: thank you.)

Eda smiled at the human before turning to King.
"See learning her language works," Eda said. "Maybe if you learn it too, you might get extra cuddles,"
"You had me at cuddles," King said picking up the Spanish book. "Teach me Spanish now, I demand it,"
"I'll teach you some later, I need to go shopping today," Eda sighed as she looked at the bare cupboards.
"Hey Luz," Eda said turning to the human. Luz looked up at her, some toast still in her mouth. "I'm going to the market,"
Luz turned her head sideways in confusion.
"Mar ket?" Luz questioned.
"Just stay here," She said pointing to where Luz was sat hoping she would understand. Luz soon get the message as she watched Eda put on her coat and grab her staff.
"¿Puedo ir contigo?" Luz said. (Translation: Can I come with you?). Eda glanced at the child confused. Luz pointed to herself, then to Eda, then to the door.
Eda smiled and nodded her head finally understanding what Luz was asking. Luz smiled in excitement and ran out the door, Eda right behind her.

Luz looked in amazement as she looked at all of the wonderful things around her.
"Esto es increíble," Luz muttered under her breath. (Translation: This is amazing)
Eda went to look at all the different foods as Luz wondered off on her own, which Eda advised her not to do. King followed her in order to keep her out of trouble. King sat in her hoodie and tried to direct her so she wouldn't bump into people while she was staring at all the different stands.

"Urgh Gus, why won't Boscha just leave me alone?" Said a female voice.
"Maybe because she's a huge jerk," Said a male voice. Luz followed the voices until she was face to face with two other witches. The young boy squealed causing Luz to jump.
"A human!" He shrieked. "How did you even get to the Boiling Isles?"
"....Qué?" Luz asked as the young boy continued to examine her.
"Don't bother trying to ask her questions," King said to Gus and Willow. "She doesn't speak the same language as us,"
"Wow," Willow said. "I didn't know humans could speak other languages."
"¿Quién eres?" Luz asked. (Translation: who are you).
"Wow it sounds so unique," Gus said in awe.
"Me llamo Luz, Luz Noceda" Luz said pointing to herself. (I'm Luz, Luz Noceda.)
"I'm Willow," Willow said pointing at herself and offering her hand for Luz to shake it. Luz accepted and shakes her hand.
"I'm Gus," Gus pointed to himself. Luz smiled.

Back at the Owl House, Eda had woken up from a nap. It was dark out and King was still asleep however, Luz was still awake. Eda went into the kitchen and found Luz reading from a Spanish to English dictionary.

"Are you trying to learn English?" Eda said picking up the book and looking at the girls notes.
"Yes," Luz said simply, not fully understanding the sentence but knew what Eda meant anyway. Eda smiled.
"Want help?" Eda asked sitting next to the child. Luz nodded her head excitedly. The last thing she wanted was for her to give up the chance to make some friends. Willow and Gus seemed like nice people and Luz wanted to be able to communicate with them. Also when she went to magic school someday she wanted to understand what the teachers were saying.

Eda and Luz studied some English and some Spanish until they both fell asleep at the table.

Luz went out to the market with Eda again a few days later, hoping she would see Willow and Gus.
Instead she bumped into a tall green haired witch with golden yellow eyes. Luz found her beautiful and blushed by looking at her.
"Watch were you're going," The girl said to her but Luz didn't understand most of it.
"S-Sorry?" she stuttered out.
"What is a human doing on the Boiling Isles?" The girl asked but Luz, still into the basics of English, didn't understand her.
"I'm Luz," Luz said to the girl.
"Ok...I'm Amity," The green haired witch said, giving the Latina a confused look. Luz smiled and waved goodbye to her.
"Wait!" Amity called after her. "You didn't answer my question. How did you get here?"
Luz looked at her confused and unsure of what to say.

"Hey Kid," Eda said causing Luz and Amity to face her. "Leave her alone she can't speak English probably."
"Wait really?" Amity asked shocked.
"Yeah she speaks a different human language but I'm teaching her some things as well as magic," Eda replied.
"Oh...ok sorry," Amity blushed slightly.
"Don't sweat it kid. In a month she'll be able to say most things. Not everything but most things." Eda said to her.

"Goodbye Luz," Amity said waving to her.
"Adiós, guapa," Luz said smiling to herself. Amity had no idea what it meant but assumed it was a goodbye. (Translation: Goodbye Beautiful 😏)

Luz found Willow and Gus and showed them most of the English she had learned. They ended up hanging out for the rest of the day and Luz continued to learn some new words.

{I hope this one was alright. I used google translate for most of it so if I got something wrong I'm sorry 😔}
