Chapter 27: A Cosmic Call

You opened your eyes.
Nothing but dark void was seen all around you.

Realizing where you are you quickly got up.
You began looking all around you.

"Shadow?"

"Shadow!" You called.

You saw bright yellow light from the corner of your eye.

Turning your head towards it you realised it was a chaos spear.

You quickly dodged out of the way.

Another one appeared.
You dodged that one too.

Then, multiple appeared at once.
You jumped up to avoid them all.

They can't hurt you but- it's scary seeing them fly at you.

Then you saw him.
His eyes watching your every move
He blended with the background so well, that the only visible thing of him, from up above were the bright red colored stripes on his head.

You landed a bit closer to him.
You could see him much better now, he looked the same as before.
However be seemed to be missing his ring bracelets.

"Hey, hi Shadow?" His ruby eyes followed your every move.
You stepped a tiny bit closer.
He flinched back and held his arm up like he did when he summoned Chaos spears.

You stepped back.
"Shadow, hey it's me, (Y/n)" you smiled a bit and extended your hand towards him.

He frowned and held his head, seemingly in pain.

"Shadow? Are you okay?"
He held his head tighter.

You stepped closer.
He didn't flinch like before.
So you got closer and closer.
Until you were right in front of him.
You cupped his face in your hands.

He looked up at you.
His eyes felt different.
They looked at you in recognition and wonder.

"I-" he started.
His eyes widened in realization.
"I loved you before"

You blushed and immediately took your hands off of his cheeks.

"Uhh- heh umm what? "

He reached out for your hand.
He noticed the ring bracelet on it.
"That was mine" he said as he stroked it with his thumb.

You heart felt like it was about to burst out of your chest.

You felt someone gently waking you up.
"(Y/n). (Y/n)! We're going to see the meteor shower today quickly!"
Creams squeaky voice sounded In your ear.

"Oh! Oh my chaos! So sorry Cream I dosed off because I didn't want to fall asleep at the picnic! I'll be ready in 5!"
You scrambled out of your bed quickly.
You heart was still pounding like crazy and your cheeks felt hot.

Your "nervousness" from "missing the meteor shower" was apparently noticeable.

"Don't worry! You have a lot of time! Tails said it isn't going to start in another hour!"

"Oh! Excellent! I'll uhh. I'll set up some more food then" you smiled.

Tails said that a meteor shower was supposed to be seen today around 2 AM.

"How much longer do we have to wait Tails?" Cream asked.
