ONCE THE FILM ENDED, CHARLIE helped skylar into her bed. she snuggled into his hold, she ended up falling asleep, charlie as well. it was around 8pm when daniella came to wake up the pair to do their annual birthday cake for mark

genevieve greeted charlie with a hug as soon as he came downstairs. genevieve and daniella went into the kitchen to place the candles on the cake

"was it booboo who told you?" skylar questioned charlie as the two were seated in the dining room

charlie nodded before continuing "you weren't answering my messages, so i got worried. once booboo told me why you came, i didn't hesitate in booking the next flight"

"why?" she questioned

"because i care about you" he said as he grabbed a hold of her hand "and i wanted to be here for you"

skylar smiled softly "thank you" he squeezed her hand

soon enough, genevieve and daniella came out from the kitchen and placed the cake in the middle of the table, daniella did the honor of lighting the candles

charlie offered to sing the happy birthday song, in respect for mark. genevieve smiled and accepted the kind gesture. skylar handed him, her guitar that she had in the back of her closet. charlie even suggested for skylar to sing along with him. she hesitated for a bit, before remembering her father's words

as the two sung, they kept their eyes on each other. as she sung she felt that lump in her throat but with charlie's eyes on her's she felt a sense of strength and a sense of reassurance that it was okay, that she was okay

once they finished singing, skylar did the honor of blowing out her father's candles "happy birthday dad" she smiled softly

after cutting the cake, the family did what they always do, tell stories of the legendary plastic surgeon, mark cameron

"there was this one time, i took daniella with me to my parents house for three days. you were about a few months old. i was so worried about leaving you with your dad, but he reassured me that you two were going to be fine" genevieve started with a chuckle "i got nervous along the way i would call like every so often, i pulled out the nanny cam and i see him changing your diaper on the sofa as he's talking to you about fixing a guys nose. so i called him and he immediately says 'we're fine, just like we we're 20 minutes ago and 20 minutes before that.' next thing you know i hear him say 'oh god' and he drops his phone"

charlie, daniella, and skylar let out a chuckle before genevieve continued on with the story. "i started panicking and i'm like 'mark, mark, are you there?' he eventually picks up the phone and goes 'guess who just rolled over for the first time' you had literally rolled off the sofa"

"oh my gosh" charlie chuckled softly

"so then, the next day your dad takes you to the hospital and tells your uncle karev, 'skylar rolled off the sofa last night and she hasn't cried since, somethings wrong' so then karev says 'yeah well i'm not a pediatrician sorry'"

"then your dad goes 'if i tell anyone in peds they'll call gen, karev started making excuses but mark cut him off saying 'you drop everything you're doing right now by the time i count to three or i will end you, one...two' karev immediately grabbed the baby carrier and gave you a consult and a ct scan. your dad then explained how you were more alert than this and that he sat up with you all night checking to make sure you were still breathing" the four chuckled softly

"he started panicking at the head ct and started asking what that was and karev goes 'yeah it's a perfectly healthy brain of a perfectly healthy baby who didn't need a ct scan' time goes by and karev is paged again by your dad and mark immediately goes 'you must have read the ct wrong or something because it's been over 27 hours and she still hasn't cried yet, somethings wrong'" skylar chuckles softly as she feels her heart tug

"karev was fed up, he tells mark 'you want to why your kid isn't crying? because she likes you, you're a good dad, she's happy, you wanna see her cry?' your uncle goes and pinches your leg and you start crying. the last thing he told your dad before leaving was 'if you haven't figured it out yet, your kid's a daddy's girls, be happy about that"

"oh my god, remember that dad went to uncle derek's house that he was constructing with uncle jackson, owen, karev, and ben" daniella brings up

genevieve chuckles softly with a smile "how can i forget? once your uncle jackson told me i couldn't stop laughing"

"what happened?" charlie asked curiously

"mark had found out that jackson was helping out derek, so he drove down to derek's home that was being built along with skylar. as he got off he placed her in his hands and walked up to the guys and yelled 'derek! you trying to steal my guy, he's my guy. avery go get in the car'"

charlie and skylar letting out a small laugh

"jackson and derek were completely confused but mark continued 'you've been moving in on him all week. you weren't even interested in him until you saw how much he meant to me' he started complimenting jackson's work techniques and jackson was in shock, he was about to question him but at this point skylar starting fussing so mark turned around and started walking as derek calls out 'hey don't do that don't don't just yell at me and walk away'" genevieve chuckles sadly at the memory "mark cuts him off and goes 'i'm not, it's just skylar likes it if i'm moving"

skylar chuckled as she blinked away the tears that were forming in her eyes

"owen then comes over and is like 'you guys talk i'll take the baby' as owen goes to take skylar, mark says 'okay, careful we had a scare this week" genevieve laughed softly as she quickly wiped her teary eyes

"mr. cameron seemed like an amazing, caring, and funny guy" charlie said with a soft smile

skylar smiled softly as genevieve looked over to charlie with a sweet smile "he was and i'm sure he would've tried to scare you away for hanging around his little sky" genevieve said with a smile "but for some reason, i feel like you wouldn't have been scared off so easily"
