a secret
hidden deep
below the ground
under your skin
locked away
like pirate treasure
but there is
no map
to find it
so nobody will
your secret
is that you are
hurt
crying
shouting
dying inside
but you plaster that
good old
smile
onto your lips
and you pretend
the world
away
it can't last
you can't shut it
out
and hope that you'll
be okay
it seeps out
through cracks
in your armor
like the spiderweb
incisions
in a broken teacup
it leaks
slowly
sluggishly
like blood
pouring from a wound
your lifeblood
drains
from you
you stay
for one reason
one person
who you love
too much
that is your
secret
they say
"you don't have to
carry
the weight of the
world
on your
shoulders"
but you do
they suggest
"you could talk
about it
that would
help you"
but it wouldn't
they beg
"help me
understand"
but you can't
don't they know?
secrets
are meant
to be
kept
