heart of the forest (night horrors)

it's

said

that the

woods

past the

edge of the

forest here

are

haunted

filled with

whispers

of the dead

and the cackles

of witches

to rise the

hairs on your

neck

in the night

cats

slink

through the

underbrush like

shadows

their smooth

silky

fur

sliding against

trees

but there are

darker

things in this

forest

than cats and

curses and kings

faeries

to steal you

away in the

deep black

gnarled

trees

with twisted

roots

and knobs

that have been

there since

the beginning

of time

and past that

if you reach

the darkest

part of those

woods

the heart

of the forest

there is a

man

with a

black lacquered

mask

and a face

filled with

cruelty

it's said

that his hands

are stained

red

with blood

you can hear him

laughing

sometimes

if you

turn your head

in the right

direction

and the

evening winds

are blowing

just right

you can hear

his throaty chuckle

filled with

mirth

and glee

because he's

found

his next victim

so don't

wander off

into the forest

after the

sun has set

because while

that is only

one

forest

every forest

has a shadowed

heart
