i think
god
abandoned us
i think he
did what he could
but when he couldn't
salvage
humanity
he turned his back
on this world
the wars raged on
people oblivious
to the absence
of the
man
in the
sky
"rome wasn't built
in a day,"
the philosophers
mused
but the earth
was built in
seven
and i suppose that
seven
wasn't enough
days
for god to achieve
perfection
we're faulty
a faulty people
with a faulty
world
at our fingertips
that we're always
destroying
it's visible
in every crack
in the pavement
in every tear
shed by a
hurting soul
babies weak and
malnourished
mothers and fathers
dying
to save their
children
from bullets
plagues and pains
debts and duties
