Nicolai's POV

I must say I was very happy and excited about the news I received some days ago. I was given the location of The Sorceress of Old. The relief and hope that surged within me when Alpha Brayden broke the news of having the Sorceress of Old's location to me was magnificent.

My hope of finding her and being able to finally undo this curse had been dwindling but after receiving the news I just felt the hope surge. The hope that surged within me was so intense that it was practically tangible.

I had thanked Brayden for his help after telling him that I owed him one. A favour from a powerful alpha as myself could prove to be very useful in future. I had immediately gone to inform my mate who fell ill when she hit four months.

I wouldn't say it was normal given any other circumstances, but in our case it was pretty much normal for her to be ill throughout her pregnancy. It broke my heart to see her suffer this much without being able to take away the pain from her. Alex had suffered enough as it was.

It killed me every day when I held up her hair as she puked her guts out. It killed me when I saw her scrunch up her face when a bout of cramps hit her. It killed me seeing her struggle through this pregnancy knowing that I was the cause of her suffering. Not that I intentionally caused it but it was because of me that she had to go through all this.

I went in search of my mate and broke the news to her. After, I had to make few preparations for my trip. The Sorceress is said to reside in a cave in Mlima Wa Matumaini (the Mountain of Hope). Brayden had sent me the coordinates and for the nature of the expedition I had made arrangements to purchase a private jet.

I didn't hire/rent a jet because anything could happen and I wouldn't want to go through the issue of insurance and whatnot. It had taken time for me to procure a jet because of all the paper works involved and payments as well as it finally getting into my possession. It arrived after a week and I took it for a test drive a couple of times because though I could fly and had a permit I needed to get myself acquainted with the controls and just generally get a feel of the plane before I officially flew it for my expedition.

My bags were ready and everything was set for me to embark on my journey of undoing this curse. Food and water had already been uploaded into the plane, my backpack had also been sent to the plane. I chose a backpack because it was ideal for a hiking trips and to some extent this was going to be a long hiking trip as I would have to hike up the mountain to see the Sorceress of Old.

I looked around my room one last time before walking out and descending the stairs. My family and friends, as well as the whole pack was gathered downstairs waiting for Dria and I to address them. I was leaving in search of the Sorceress today.

I saw so many familiar faces when Dria and I finally walked out the front door. Everyone had come to say goodbye and wish me the best on my journey. I mounted the small podium with Dria by my side and addressed my loved ones.

"Thank you all for all the support you have shown me in these trying times. Thank you for also coming here and for just being the best people a person could surround themselves with. As you are all aware I would be embarking on a very long journey to seek help from The Sorceress of Old in order to undo the curse placed on me and my family." I paused and stared into the individual faces before me.

"There isn't much any of you can do now except to hope and pray for the Moon Goddess to make this journey a victorious one. A victory for my family is a victory for all of us. I leave Demetri, our Beta in my stead. He would act as the Alpha in my absence. Travis, the sub-beta would be your acting Beta. I employ you to accord them the respect you accord to myself and Demetri as Alpha and Beta. Thank you once again for everything." I finished off my speech and the crowd erupted in applause.
