Chapter 1
World on Fire
Today was the best day ever. Coach was really sweet today and let us show off our tumbling skills. I had just driven to my apartment. If you are wondering I'm Isabella Rodriguez. I am 19 years old and I am one of the strongest in my class on my college cheer team. I texted my best friend letting her know I made it home safely. She texted back immediately. I didn't respond or open my phone because I knew what it was going to be. The same thing it was everyday. 'okay thanks for letting me know' and then I heard another ding. I knew it was her saying 'hey dipshit I made it home!!!' I finally got to the door and went inside. Everything was dark. Huh the lights must have broken in the hall. I stopped at the second apartment on the first floor and fiddled with my keys. I heard the door to the elevator ding and I saw a man who looked kind of bloody. I got kind of scared and finally I had opened my door. When the man reached for my door I slammed it shut and locked it. Wow why would he do that. He kind of looked like the kid who lived above me. I plugged my phone in and started my shower. I got in letting the warm water slide down my back. I could hear my phone going off and ringing but I don't really mind it. I thought maybe it was just Avery. That's my best friend. She is the coach's daughter. She's 17 years old. I finished my shower and finally came out of my bathroom. I turned on my tv in the living room. A broadcast blasted in my apartment. I turned it down. A random news lady started to speak

I looked outside and everyone was running around to get to their cars.

I scrambled around my apartment to put clothes on. I put on my spandex and sports bra. I then put on my leggings almost falling onto the floor. I threw my loose purple shirt on. I grabbed my emergency bag and grabbed my phone charger stuffing it and other things in my bag. I know we weren't supposed to leave but I need to get to Avery. I packed everything I needed that wasn't packed already in my chest duffle and I accidentally left my cheer uniform and pom poms in it but it's whatever. I'm sure this is hoax.  I heard a groan and sounds of screams coming from the TV

i watched as the girl was quickly eaten alive. I picked up my phone seeing avey blew up my phone. I called her as I went to grab my gun and knife. She picked up almost immediately.

A- omg bella you are alive!?
B- I know Im sorry I wasn't responding I was in the shower and I didn't hear my phone. I'm on my way to your house.
A- good my father is pacing! He's worried you are going to get hurt.
B- I'll be fine Avery I just need to get going. I love you and I'll see you soon!

I hung up and opened my door looking around. No one. The light by the office door was swinging. I walked quickly and right as I passed the light it fell. Fuck me. I looked back and saw multiple people walking to me. They all were covered in blood. I ran to my car and quickly unlocked it before jumping in and locking it. I checked my backseats and started to car. I sped off. I took back roads knowing the highway even if it was the quickest way to get there would be packed with others and I wouldn't get through. It look me around 45 minutes to pull up up to averys gate. They had this huge fense around there house. I punched the code in and made sure to close the  gate. I sped up Avery's dirt driveway. I parked my old car by Avery's expensive cars. I looked up at the bright sun as I was grabbing my bags and looked up at the huge manor

I slowly walked to the huge white door that was taller than me since I was only 4'11 barley. Before I got close to the door Avery came out and tackled me to the gravel. She hugged me tightly as we were technically still on the hard rocks.

A- oh gosh I'm so glad you are okay Bella
B- I told you I was going to be here soon I wasn't going to break what I had said
?- come inside now!
Averys dads voice booked through out the forest he had behind his house and you couldn't even see the fence. Avery got up and walked inside quickly. I rolled my eyes knowing she was terrified of her father. I wasn't though. I saw him pick up my bags off the gravel and reach his hand down for me. I took it and his warmth sent a shiver down my spine. I smiled at him weakly.
B- thank you Mr.Smith
Is it bad I never knew his first name. He smiled and we both went inside before sitting on the couch worrying about what was going to happen. We heard a huge explosion come from the city. Avery was curled up with her father by the fire he had made and I was sitting on the other side of the room looking oh the window. I saw the huge cloud of smokey red air come from a certain spot in the city. Avery turned the radio on. As she did there more explosions happened. She whimpered and coward down farther into her dad.
B- we are going to be fine Avery
Little did I know that everything went down hill after that day. The day the world caught on fire. Everything spiralled down after that.
