James Sloan's base of operations was nothing extravagant, a run down looking apartment complex in the north part of the city. No one stopped Eve as she marched to Sloan's office.
"Sloan!" The mafia boss looked up from his paperwork. His short hair was grey, and his blue eyes looked bored.
"Miss Karpos, what a surprise. How may I help you?"
"I think you have someone under my protection, and I want her back." Sloan put a hand to his chest in a display of offense.
"That's quite the claim, Karpos. Got any evidence to back it up?" Eve just glared at him. He continued.
"Surely the great Eve Karpos wouldn't come to my office making outlandish claims that I have broken mafia law without evidence."
"Quit playing this game, Sloan."
"I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about."
