Sloan looked up. He was surprised to see Detective Adina and Eve Karpos in his office. He noted their closeness; Eve had an arm around Cora's waist, and the two were standing right next to each other.
"Well, Sloan, I technically shouldn't be working right now, given that I was stabbed just a few days ago, but I couldn't help myself. This is, after all, the culmination of a lot of hard work in my career." An officer appeared behind her, brandishing handcuffs.
"You've tried this before, what makes you think it'll work now? I'll get out. And when I do..."
"Sorry, Sloan, you aren't getting out this time," Eve responded. Sloan smiled.
"Either way, it's too late. My plans are already in motion. It's too late to stop me. Tell me, Detective, when was the last time someone checked on the Obex?" Cora froze. Eve took her hand, but the detective didn't relax. Sloan was led out of the room in cuffs.
