It took me a while to find the stables in the palace, because we only walked past it quickly on our original tour of the palace. I did not know where Kat or Dominick was, but thankfully the stables were completely empty. I did not want to deal with anyone else bowing at the sight of me.

I have never been on a horse before. Virginia Beach does not have many places for horse backing riding. Even my hikes throughout the forest were done on foot. We do not have many horseback riding trails around. However, when Dominick told me that my mother had the ability to communicate with animals I wanted to be around animals. I wanted to step into her shoes and feel what it must have been like for her to speak with animals.

There were dozens of horses in the stables. Each horse had a name on a plaque in front of their assigned stable.

Cobalt, Diablo, Garnet, Autumn, Casper, Storm.

Along the stables was a horse with no name on its plaque. I stood in front of the horse and it seemed like he was looking at me. He? Maybe she? I do not know how to tell horse gender. I do not know what the gender is of any of these horses, because their names were generic and only seemed to match their coloring.

"Do you like this guy?" A voice said. It did not scare me, so I calmly turned to see Ezra standing in the doorway of the stable. He waved away three of his guards and they stood outside the stable. "He's a white Arabian stallion. I was riding a horse just like him the first time I met your mother. You may not grow to enjoy riding, but I got him for you. You can name him and learn to ride him while you are in Astalilia."

"I don't know what to call him," I whispered.

"That's fine. If you would like to take him for a ride ... I'll have an instructor come and start you with some lessons," he said.

Ezra did not strike me as the fatherly type. I mean he is the ruler of an entire kingdom. He needed to be firm and not emotional in order to rule over the people of Astalilia.

He left the stables and I saw his guards following behind him.

Not even a minute later someone walked into the stable. He was dressed like the male version of me.
