"Ember, you've been cleaning the kitchen all day. Stop now."

"No dad look there are still stains around--"

"Ember!" I looked at my dad behind me, he sighed.

"Rest now." He said in an authoritative tone. 


"Goodnight mom." I said to my mom who is busy counting the profit of our store.


I went upstairs after. I removed my apron and hanged it on the back of the door. I sat down on my working table and starts calculating formulas. I still can't solve it.

I frustratingly massaged my temples. Think Ember. Think. You're smart.


I stood up and went outside my room. I went up, to the rooftop of our house. 

I found no stars above me. 

No stars. 

I sighed. How can I believe one star if there are no stars in the sky? How Ten?




I hugged his letter tightly in my arms, and cried.
