March 9, 2023. 1:47 PM.

I hear a knocking at my apartment door.

I look through the peephole and see none other than my little brother.

"Hey Peter." I say, opening the door.

"Uh, come on in." I say, showing Peter into my small apartment. "So, what brings you to LA?"

"You went goth."

"You got taller. Taller than Tony yet?" I ask.

"Heh. No." Peter chuckles. I start making a pot of coffee.

"Eh, didn't think so. You want coffee?"

"No thanks. Cool apartment."

"Thanks. I'll ask again, what brings you to LA?"

"You. You couldn't have picked somewhere closer?"

"I needed to escape New York. That's where Tony is, that's where Poseidon is, and that's where all my memories are." I say, then taking a sip of my coffee. It's almost comforting. Almost.

"Why leave then?"

"Peter, I am an orphan once again. Please excuse me if I'm hesitant to remove the barrier between me and the memories."

"I'm sorry."

"Thanks, but a sorry won't bring her back."

"I wish it could."

"So, how're you?"

"I'm good. It's kinda weird having a baby sister, but I'm doing pretty well." Peter says. "So, how's LA?"

"It's nice. The people are nice, I'm close to SHIELD, which is always nice." I say, then my phone dings. I pick it up and see a message that I don't like.

"What's wrong?" Peter asks, seeing the frown on my face.

"Nothing." I say, typing back.

Favorite Uncle: The Underworld, now.

Water Girl: i can't. busy.

Favorite Uncle: With what?

Water Girl: Uncle, i do have a life.

Favorite Uncle: Boyfriend?

Water Girl: no, Uncle.

Favorite Uncle: Girlfriend?

Water Girl: will you stop? Peter's getting suspicious.

Favorite Uncle: It's been a week since the last soul. I'll feed you to Cerberus.

Water Girl: i'll meet you in a couple days. Peter came here from New York, i'm spending as much time with him as i can.

Favorite Uncle: Hurry up then. Sneak out while he's asleep or something.

Water Girl: fine, but it's on you if Peter finds out.

"What's wrong?" Peter asks.

"Nothing." I reply.

"Lina, I know when things bother you." Peter says.

"I'm fine. Hey, you up for ice cream?" I ask.

"Always!" Peter grins.

"There's this great ice cream parlor ten, maybe twelve minutes from here." I say, grabbing the keys to my car.

"Cool." Peter says, following me out of my apartment. We walk down to the parking lot and I easily find my car.
