"Jackass! I am not adorable, I am not cute, I am not shy and I am certainly, most positively not in love with you!"

SECRET ADMIRER

You'd taken Lily's words to heart- that damn Gryffindor was rather persuasive. Honestly, had it always been this hard to talk to Black? Apparently so. But then you'd look at Lily and Sev and think If they can talk and are clearly head over heels for each other, then why can't I?...Especially Sev. Oddly enough, however, the love letters you received were one of the things that made you really stand tall in your non existent love life.

---

You watched Lily & Sev glide across the floor 'as friends' but you thought differently. Despite what Lily said, but here you were, all jazzed up and blingy, in spite of the abundance of people around you.

You'd been so focused on trying to get Sirius to come to the dance with you, you had turned down the several invitations you had received in the process. They were all good looking and extremely nice and all...but they weren't Sirius, the one you wanted to be dancing with. It's not that you regretted it, although it would have been certainly nice to have someone to rant and complain to.

Not once had your secret admirer mentioned the ball in any of their letters and inside you found that  you were a bit disappointed. You had been rather curious to find out who this unknown person was. Like, this was the guy who knew of your distaste to Transfiguration and wrote in his letters the best way to get away with sleeping in class. This person, who most clearly had no artistic skills, still took the time to draw oddly drawn pictures to which you would smile at. You chuckled at the thought and sighed- you sometimes wish you could write back to this unknown fellow but you hadn't the slightest clue of what letter his name even started with, let alone what it was.

Silently, you watched your two best friends dance with each other as Lily smiled, like the stunning girl she was, and in return, it made Severus smile back. There was no way you could have fought the proud grin that crept on your face for Sev as you watched him and his crush glide across the dance floor. Having know Severus from a young age, you had always thought he would wind up, well... alone. You never meant to be so bitter & cold about it but it was a reasonable rumination when you took into consideration his sharp tongue and briskly personality.

You peered at the people around you...perhaps you should mingle. It wasn't as if you had no friends or people who wouldn't be more than happy to dance with but you just weren't up to it.

"Megan, m'dear!" you heard a voice boom to which you sighed and olled your eyes, knowing exactly who it was.

You plastered on a smile and turned to the owner of the slightly tipsy voice, "Good evening, Professor Slughorn!"

You smiled at you, "Hello, dear, how are you finding this party?"

You fake grinned at him, "It's absolutely splendid, sir."

"Oh, wonderful, wonderful! Have you come with anyone? You do look rather nice in that dress of yours, surely someone has asked you to accompany them to the dance?"

You nodded your head, "Yes, sir, I have been asked. My date is just, uhm, getting drinks."

"Oh, fabulous! Do try the butterbeer, deary, you'll find I got it transported from France from the captain of the French Quidditch team who happens to be friends with a world class butterbeer maker! But I don't like to brag or talk about that!" he chuckled.

You restrained yourself from rolling your eyes and dumping the drink he was holding in his hand onto his head, but instead smiled, "That's wonderful, sir! I'll make a note to drink the butterbeer.
