Chapter 14

EXCITEMENT filled Agape when she heard the crashing sound of waves. The night sky reflects in the water. Sa tagal niyang nabubuhay sa mundo, ngayon lang siya nakapunta sa dagat ng gabi.

She wandered her eyes around. She can see some lights from the locals' house nearby. Malayong malayo sa maliwanag na kulay ng gabi sa siyudad.

You can also hear some dogs barking. Ang tunog ng makina ng sasakyan sa malapit na kalsada ay rinig na rinig rin. But unlike in the city, this one is amazingly sound good to her ears.

"Kaya pala ang tagal ng biyahe. Nasa Batangas pala tayo.. " natatawa niyang puna. She have been in Batangas for a couple of times already. Pero madalas ay bumibisita lang sa kamag-anak ng Papa niya o minsan ay dahil sa mga reunion. Pero hindi talaga siya ganoon nakapaglibot.

"Hindi ko talaga sinabi. I don't want to scare you.. " he said. She looked at him confused. Bakit naman siya matatakot? It's not like, going here will bring horror to here or what. Kung sinabi niya agad, baka papunta palang dito maiihi na siya sa excitement.

"I just.. " He stuttered. "Let's go somewhere.. " biglang sambit niya.

She pouted in disappointment. She wanted to stay for at least an hour. Ang tagal na rin kasi mula nang makakita siya ng dagat. Fine, dagat rin naman ang Manila Bay at madalas niya 'yung makita kapag nasa MoA siya.

"Sige.. " she answered. "Pero babalik pa tayo dito diba?" She made sure that she sound so sad. Baka naman pumayag.

Her smile widen when he slowly nodded. Napatakbo tuloy siya sa lalaki at niyakap ang bewang nito.

"Thank you!" she happily exclaimed. She let go hugging him after a couple of seconds. He looked so stunned kaya't napilitan siyang kumalas sa yakap. Sayang, chachansing na sana ako, e.

"So, 'san tayo pupunta?" basag niya sa katahimikan.

"To my Ninong. He lives near here. And probably, we will stay at his place for tonight.. " he said.

She nodded. Hindi nga naman sila puwedeng umuwi. It's almost 12 am. It would be dangerous to travel for hours again.

"Malapit lang ba 'yun? I'm afraid with the dogs. Kanina pa tumatahol, e. " She said. Surely she will be anxious with the dogs barking while they are walking to his Ninong's house. Especially dogs won't recognize them. Dayo pa naman sila.

He chuckled. "Don't worry, we will use the car. It's a 5 minutes drive from here. "

Nakahinga naman siya ng maluwag. Nag-aalala pa naman siya kanina kasi medyo makipot na ang kalsada. Baka hindi makapasok ang kotse.

"They have a resort so their pathway is spacious. " He assured, na para bang nabasa nito ang iniisip niya.

Napangiti na lang siya. Sabagay, dogs won't bite her anyway. She will just bite her tounge. Ganun daw dapat para hindi kagatin ng aso, e. She just doesn't know if it was true or not.

TRUE to his words, the pathway is really spacious. Maliwanag din ang daan. And her eyes twinkled in amazement when they reached the resort. It was glowing! She can see the cottages with lights. Ngunit natuon ang paningin niya sa malaking bahay. Maybe a mansion is the right term for it.

"Hijo.. " She jumped in shock when a serious tone of voice enveloped the place. Wala tuloy sa sariling napaatras siya.

"Did I scare you, hija? Pasensya na, I should have bought a flashlight with me.. " he said.

"Ninong.. " Her boss blurted out. Nakahinga tuloy siya ng maluwag. Akala naman niya kung sino.

"Natakot ko yata ang nobya mo, Gray. Sana pala ay pinailawan ko pa ang entrada. " mahinahon niyang sambit.

Nakaramdam tuloy siya ng hiya. "Ayos na po.. " sambit niya.

"Pumasok na kayo sa loob. Gising pa ang asawa ko kaya't makakahiram ka sa kanya ng damit, hija. Ikaw naman Gray ay humiram muna kay Zeijan. "

She muttered her thanks before they finally entered the resort's premises. Nakita niyang medyo malaya pala ang layo ng mansyon sa mismong resort. Ang sabi ni Tito Andro, his name when he introduced his self, para daw iyon sa privacy ng pamilya nila.

A woman in Tito Andro's age was waiting in the maindoor. She looked sophisticated in her midnight black night gown. But she's smiling to them, especially to her, kaya't nakahinga siya ng maluwag.

"How are you, Gray?" malamyos nitong tanong sa boss niya.

"I'm fine, Tita Corine. " He answered before his hands slipped in her waist. Napaayos na lang rin siya ng tayo. She's being used with that gestures of him. Kaya't minsan ay hindi na rin siya nagugulat.

"This is Agape, my fiancé.." He introduced her. Fine, she was taken aback with his words but like what she said, she's getting used to it.

"It's nice to meet you po.. " she said. She can feel her heart beating because she's nervous. But she calmed herself. Mukha namang mabait ang babae.

"It's nice to meet you too, Agape. " She softly said. "What a lovely lady you got, Gray.. " baling nito sa boss niya.

Bahagya siyang napayuko. She's sure that her cheeks is now red as cherry. Sino 'bang hindi? She was just complimented by a gorgeous woman!

"Oh, she's shy.. " She chuckled. "Pumasok na tayo sa loob. Huwag tayong mag-usap dito sa pinto at baka may mabuntis.. " sambit nito at mahina pang natawa.

NAUNA silang pumasok ni Tita Corine sa loob. Gray and Tito Andro was talking something outside. They seem serious so she didn't bother looking at them.

"Kasya ba 'to sayo, hija? Hindi naman kayo magkalayo ng laki ng anak ko.. " she handed her a pair of new undergarments and a loose white plain dress with thin straps.

Tita guided her to the guestroom. She took a shower when she left. Napangiti na lang siya ng makitang kasya naman sa kanya ang damit.

"It fits on you well.. " galak na sabi ni Tita nang pumasok ito sa kwarto. "Sadly, my daughter is sleeping. But you can meet her tomorrow.. "

"Thank you, Tita.. " she sincerely said. They are so welcoming. Kahit ganitong oras na ng gabi.

"It's nothing. Natutuwa nga ako na ikakasal na si Gray. And I'm more happy that it was you.. " she said. Napangiti na lang siya. It's nice that they are supporting them. Ayaw pa naman niyang maging drama ang buhay niya.

"ARE you sure with this, hijo?" rinig niyang tanong ni Tito Andro sa boss niyang habang pababa sila ni Tita Corine ng hagdan.

"Yeah, I am. And I know that you can help me.. "

Napakunot ang noo niya. Is there something wrong with her boss? Bakit kailangan niya ng tulong?

"Fine.. Mukhang hindi na rin naman kita mapipigilan.. " Natatawang turan ni Tito at napunta sa kanya ang atensyon.

"Oh, nandito na ang bride. Is this a coincidence? She's wearing a white dress.. " malawak ang ngiti ni Tito.

Napatingin siya sa boss niya, nagtatanong.

"Ninong is a judge, Agape.. " He paused and looked at his watch. The side of his lips rose up. "It's 12:03 am. Do you want to get married today?"
