Truthfully, Jackson hadn't thought much about finding his mate so imagine his surprise when Lairith appeared.

His whole life, he's found it hard to imagine falling in love with someone out of the blue; that the person he would be spending the rest of his life with could be decided in just one moment. He and Austin shared this mindset so he was shocked at Austin's abrupt change when Amara appeared, he was like a completely different man. He had asked him 'What changed?' in which he merely smiled and answered 'When you find your mate, you'll know,'. He remembered Austin laughing at him before he patted his back and left.

He was left speechless because it was the same words he heard from his father long ago when they both asked him that question. That day, he was left completely and utterly confused, but after coming face to face with his mate, he now understood what they mean by 'when you find your mate, you'll know'. He laughed at the irony.

Jackson was a popular person in both his pack and town. He was tall, handsome, and had great career aspects (humans thought that he owned his own security company), not only that, but he was kind and friendly too. Some would even say that a smile from him could have men and women falling for him. He found this rumour quite ridiculous considering he was quite clueless about that art of flirting. How could his actions be mistaken for something entirely different? His mind rambled on.

He's never been in a serious relationship before as most of the women in his life were either relatives, subordinates, or friends (something he'd never see beyond that). The last time he dated a girl, he broke up with her soon after because, in the end, he couldn't develop any feelings for her no matter how hard he tried. He hadn't tried dating anyone since then since he's accepted the fact that he'd rather wait for his mate.

"—son, Jackson!"

Austin's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, "Huh?"

'Tsk' Austin clicked his tongue as his eyebrows creased in frustration, "I've called your name five times,"

Ah... he sheepishly scratched the back of his head "Sorry..."

Austin sighed "We need to leave. It's getting cold and I'm sure it's better to have these conversations at home,"

Jackson nodded, he's also noticed that the wind has been getting colder and colder and he was getting increasingly worried that his mate might catch a cold and fall sick. If only he knew that a siren's body was made to withstand negative temperatures and that this weather would be considered warm to them.

"I'll take my mate home,"

"That's not a good idea. We shouldn't separate the three of them, just take them to my house and they'll stay with Amara and I," Austin chimed in.

"That's... true..."

Austin moved his attention back to where Amara was and watched as she continued conversing with the two unfamiliar faces with her face glowing with happiness. He slightly narrowed his eyes, it was the first time he's seen her reveal that kind of expression. Her eyes filled with endless amounts of warmth that were completely different from her usual calm and apathetic ones. He couldn't help but wish that one day she would look at him with that type of gaze.

As if sensing someone intensely looking at her Amara looked back and met his eyes. Seeing their sister's attention was stolen from them, they followed the direction of her gaze and inadvertently landed on Austin resulting in three pairs of eyes staring at him. Having three incredibly beautiful beings stare at you was enough for anyone to become flustered, but Austin remained unperturbed by the two extra pairs of eyes and only focused on the one thing that mattered.
