After dinner, Jackson led both Thelopi and Lairith back to their rooms while Amara went back with Austin. They both got ready to go to bed but neither of them felt sleepy. As Austin laid there with only silence to accompany him, his mind began to wonder.

The series of events that happened today replayed in his mind, in particular Amara's siblings. He vaguely remembered her telling him that she didn't have any family. Is it possible that she lied to him? But when he thought about it, he didn't know anything about her, and it was only his preconceptions that led him to believe she didn't have anyone.

The time they spent together was often a new experience for both of them. They didn't mention anything about their pasts except on a few occasions. At first, he wasn't interested in what she had done in the past, so whether she had killed and eaten men or not, he didn't care.

His heart has always been like this, cold and detached. But how he was on the inside was completely different to how he acted on the outside. If someone were to see him now, then they would point out how contradictory he was. How could someone who waged wars with several packs to help the people not care about the lives Amara had taken? The answer was simple.

It was because he loved her.

It looked like he was a lot more like his mother than he thought. Blind in the face of love, someone who could mercilessly turn a blind eye to his mates sins. He laughed ironically. He promised himself that he would never walk the same patch as his parents but here he was.

As he quietly laid beside Amara on their bed, his hand gently moved to hold hers and with a quiet voice told her, "You know, I'm not as good of a person that I make myself out to be. I'm very selfish, but even so, please... stay with me,"

Amara carefully listened to his voice that faintly trembled like he was afraid, "...Why do you have to be a good person? Because whether you're good or bad, we're all selfish and cruel in some way, and in the end, the person we will always put first is ourselves."

His hand tightened, "You're right that we're all selfish, but remember this. The person who I will always put first is not myself or anybody but you, because, without you, there's no point in living." He moved to his side so he was facing her and pulled her into his chest.

Austin might not have realised how much of an impact his words had on Amara. She didn't understand, how could you possibly put someone else's life above yours? Was it because she was his mate? Was this bond that they had between them be so strong that others can take such risks for each other?

Her mouth opened but no word would leave her throat. A couple of minutes pass and only their light breath could be heard. As she sunk deeper into his warmth, tiredness began to overtake her and soon fell asleep. Today's events had probably taken more out of her than she realised.

The next day, Amara woke up with Austin's chest being the first thing she sees. After waking jpg in his arms many times prior, she had long since gotten used to it. The same could be said about Austin because now, he was used to holding her as he slept.

After greeting Amara with a light kiss on the forehead, the two got ready before coming downstairs where she saw Lairith and Thelopi standing in the kitchen.

Neither of them had a peaceful sleep considering how they were on their guards the whole night. It wasn't easy for them to relax in a place they were unfamiliar with especially because they are such predatory creatures whose survival was the top priority.

"I'm guessing that you guys didn't have a good sleep?" Jackson sheepishly asked, noticing their slightly haggard appearance. He leaned on the kitchen counter with a mug of freshly made coffee in his hand.

Lairith picked up on the scent which piqued her interest. Seeing how Jackson was savouring it, it made her wonder what it tasted like. She licked her lips and without any warning, walked up to him and pulled the mug that was still in his hand towards her lips.

She took a small sip whilst ignoring Jackson's stunned face.

It was bitter. Lairith didn't know why humans enjoyed drinking such things because it tasted absolutely disgusting.

As Austin watched the scene unfold, he couldn't help but grin thinking that it was finally his turn to experience the things he did when he had just found Amara. Their actions had made it distinctly clear the two of them were related considering how they would catch them by surprise time and time again.

Even with three extra people in his house, it didn't deter him from doing what he usually did in the morning so they all had a hearty breakfast. Thanks to what happened last night, Jackson wasn't as awkward with Lairith as he was at first and unreservedly placed his seat next to hers while putting lots of food on her plate for her to eat. He was already acting the part of a caring husband.

As they all sat around the table, they began to discuss their plans for the day. "Would the three of you like to explore the pack town today?" Austin asked them.

Despite Amara already being here for three weeks, she still hadn't been introduced to any of the pack members yet but thanks to the incident where she disappeared and most of the pack had to search for her, they were already aware that their alpha had finally found his mate, and most if not all of them were very excited to meet her.

"Mm! That's a great idea, I can show them around!" Jackson said excitedly.

Austin immediately shut down Jackson's idea, "You can't. We have work today that we, unfortunately, can't get out of," this left Jackson downcast.

Jackson was reminded of the situation regarding the Ombres pack that they needed to solve leaving him annoyed. At the thought that he wasn't able to spend time with his mate because of that issue gave him a new resolve to solve it as quickly as possible.

"So I guess Jessie'll be the one accompanying them today," Jackson sulked.

"Is that alright with you?" Austin asked Amara softly, his eyes curving into a crescent showing his tender gaze.

"Mn," Amara agreed.

After setting their plans for the day, they continued their breakfast. An hour later, the front door to his house opened. Jessie walked in with Felix following behind her. Today, Jessie wore a plain black mini skirt paired with a loose-fitting long-sleeve top tucked in. It was an outfit perfect for the sunny weather outside.

"Good morning." she greeted Austin before stretching her neck to look at the three siblings behind him. "Hello," she smiled, waving at them. The three siblings were entranced by her warm smile and stared at her blankly.

"Good morning," Amara greeted Jessie using the human customs she had learned. Thelopi and Lairith soon followed suit and greeted her as well.

Jessie smiled at them before eyeing the clothes the two wore and cringed. Though the clothes they wore were all high in quality, it didn't suit them. Lairith's clothes were too wide for her thin frame and so slightly hung off her body but considering that there were borrowed from Jackson's closet, it made sense.

"Well, I will definitely not let them wear those things any longer." She said pointing at their clothes. It seemed that a shopping trip was needed to be included in their schedule, and this time, for Lairith and Thelopi.
