My phone ringing wakes me. I groan rolling over, pawing the table for my phone. I squint, trying to see the name on the screen. I push myself up in my bed, shoving my phone to my ear.

"Bonnie?"

She chuckles but her voice turns glum very quickly. "Hey, City."

I let out a heavy sigh. "You didn't find anything did you."

"I'm sorry City, but your mom didn't write anything in her grimoire about her visions."

I nod, humming into the phone. That was expected, she was very indifferent towards the visions and towards her talent altogether. She used to tell me that it was scary seeing something happen before it actually did, said it was like looking over her shoulder her entire life. "Can I ask you another favor?"

"Yeah," she says. "Of course."

I throw the covers aside, grabbing my dad's journal and pulling it into my lap. "I took a look into my dad's journal last night and I guess I took a memory of one of my mom's bad visions. Something about them finding something out about the whole Mate thing. And they went to your Grams and she placed a cloaking spell on me."

"What was it for?" Bonnie asks.

I sigh, "To hide me from my Mate."

She's silent for a moment. "You want me to remove it?"

"Yeah," I breathe. "I know the pain my parents went through, and I want the chance to make my own decision on it. But with the cloaking spell, they can't find me with magic, and the way my dad wrote made it sound like they would be looking for me that way."

Bonnie nods, "Do you know who he is?"

"Sort of," I mumble flipping through the book. "My Dad said I saw a vampire, which is what I saw in Elijah's memory. But my mom always wrote Hybrid. And I don't know what that means."

Bonnie is silent for a moment. "Next time we're together, I'll try to remove it."

"Thank you," I mutter, ending the call and glancing down at the newest message on my phone. Sibling debacle at the Salvatore residence and my presence is required. I let out another sigh, changing and grabbing my bag, stuffing the journal inside before making my way out the door.

Another day in Mystic Falls.

"You brought back John Gilbert?!" Damon spits. "That was your big, save Elena move?"

"I went to look for Isobel, and I got John instead." Steffan reasons. "He said he could help us, and we're desperate."

I shake my head. "All I'm hearing is a bad idea and a worse solution."

Damon's face contorts in confusion. "We're not that desperate Stefan. The guy tried to barbeque me."

"Damon, Bonnie's witch friend is working with Elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed. Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe."

"Which for all you know could work," I say, my bet still on Elijah as a viable plan. He knows things, things he won't share, but he could save Elena.

Damon glares at me, "Don't go siding with the unkillable vampire."

Stefan glances at me, "Do you trust Elijah?"

"Well I'm sorry, but he seems to be the only one that has any answers as to anything regarding magically appearing tattoos and their relevance to Mates." I sneer at him, "I'm on Elena's side, but excuse me if I'm trying to work out problems of my own."
