The somber mood has never been a faraway state within our little group of supernatural. But today it is overwhelming. It's crushing us as we sit around waiting, the only thing we can do. Elijah's eyes hold the weight of the world as he stares at me. Perhaps he thinks if he stares at me long enough then I'll change my mind and run as he wants. But I won't change my mind. Not about this.

We stand in the living room, Elijah explaining everything to us about tonight. The plan will go as well, planned, with no interruptions tonight. Klaus dies, Elena lives. Everything else doesn't matter. It is month two that I will push away my Wolf for as long as possible, not for Tyler but for Elena. And tonight the pain will be worth it.

"Tonight is the full moon," Elijah looks around at us. We can all feel the panic in the room, the impending doom suffocates us, "We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse."

"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake?" Stefan says, glancing at Elena and me, "That it is actually just a curse placed on Klaus?"

Elijah nods, "Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...he'll be a true hybrid."

"Why would he want to break the curse?" Stefan asks.

I grumble, "Besides being narcissistic and the fact that it is a curse? The wolf is apart of who you are, Stefan. Once you trigger it, it is always with you. Not having that side must be like losing half of yourself."

His eyes narrow, "And it makes him stronger?"

I nod. That would be the downside. If we fail to kill him tonight, then we never will be able to. Tonight is our only shot. And with that, I try to ignore the nagging memory I stole from my mother to help her. The one of the pain she felt when my father died. I bury inside me the need to save that whom my body claims Mate. Because he has just arrived on a murder spree, and my friends have been here forever. They are innocent and he is not.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse?" Damon asks snidely stalking into the room. "We can kill him today, with Bonnie."

"Damon," I mumble. His attitude hasn't been in check since last night. And the last thing we need is his snarkiness getting the way of our plan. We have this plan pruned to the point of no return. Everything is put in place as far as we can plan for. The only unknown variable is Klaus.

"No," Elena shuts down the idea. "Bonnie can't use that much power without dying."

Damon shakes his head, his thick head choosing to ignore our point. "I'll write her a great eulogy."

"It's not an option, Damon." I snap. Damon glares at me in return. I can see the old Damon coming back, the one who served himself and no one else. The one who is selfish to kill others for his own desires.

Stefan changes the subject sensing the rising danger from Damon, "All right, how do we break this curse?"

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward." Elijah remarks, "The ingredients, so to speak, you already know."

Stefan nods, "The moonstone."

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each." Elijah's eyes fall heavily on me.

Elijah and I are banking on the idea that I am the werewolf sacrifice. Elijah believes that Klaus will seek me out today, and so do I. He might have wanted me for years but with the way Elijah puts it, I am of no use to him anymore. I lost my worth centuries ago when he gave up on me. Klaus has no regard for love or human life, and that to me makes him irredeemable. And as much as I want away with love, my body can not be sworn to this man. Sacrificing me will break the bond, and they will be able to save Elena. And I will have no regrets but one in this world.
