"Yep. Everybody's dead." Damon says with delight as his hand passes into the apartment without any disturbance.

I roll my eyes, walking past him. "Try to contain your glee, Damon."

How I ended up on the trip to the Martin's apartment, I don't really know. But Bonnie called and I couldn't say no. I'm still trying to find answers and I'm hoping these witches would have answers somewhere in their rather large collection of grimoires. I try to keep my eyes away from Luka, who is a charred body resting on the floor of the Martin's apartment. Bonnie and Jeremy follow me in.

"We should pack up the grimoires," Bonnie suggests. "They spent years collecting them. I wanna make sure they're safe."

Damon leans towards her. "You know, we could just get another match and cremate 'em."

"Don't be disrespectful Damon," I mutter, picking up a grimoire and flipping through it. Recognizing some of the spells from my mother's own.

Bonnie nods. "Not to him."

"Fine," Damon shrugs. "I'll bury him."

"What exactly are we looking for?" Jeremy asks.

Bonnie moves around the room, "According to Luka's dad, one of these contains a spell that'll let me harness the energy that's left behind when a witch dies violently."

"I didn't know you and father witch were so close," Damon remarks.

"We weren't," Bonnie insists. "But when he gave me my powers back, he gave me a message. If I can find the spot in town, where the old Salem witches were burned, I can harness their energy to use when I need."

"Great," Damon groans. "We'll have to put that on our list of things to do today. Harness ancient dead-witch power."

I send him a dirty look. "Ever heard that witches hate vamps?" He sneers at me. "I should ask my mother to haunt you, might make my life easier," I mumble, setting down one spellbook and picking up another.

Bonnie's eyes narrow. "You know where the witches were burned?"

"Did I forget to mention that?" He mutters. "Might wanna harness City's mother too. Sounds like she's up for favors."

My eyes narrow at him. "I'm really asking now."

Bonnie glances at me, "He's not wrong though, City."

I shake my head. "No, Bonnie."

Jeremy's eyebrows furrow. "I mean I know she's your mother, but if her mark is still there then why not?"

I clench my teeth. "My mother came from a prophetic line of witches. Meaning she saw the future. It was something that plagued her. She struggled every day with it, until she put her magic away, making the visions easier. I have no way of telling how that will manifest on Bonnie if she channels my mom's power." I glance at the floor, sorrow running through my body. "And I've seen its effect, I won't put that on anybody."

Bonnie gives me a sad smile. I know she could use the power, but my mother was always trying to avoid the visions and they only got worse when my father died. So she put her magic away, hoping to help the visions and it did. They came less often and less violent, but she was still plagued by the one that hadn't come true. She hated the feeling of living her life waiting for the next bad thing. And I won't give that to anybody.

"Why can't you see the future?" Jeremy asks.

"Uh," I cross my arms. "I can sometimes, but it is set decisions, normally around something life or death. Normally they don't come until it's about to happen. The memories were the way her magic manifested in me. It's been a curse enough." I mutter.
