We were already almost done through the race. Since the beginning of the race, Miya would easily be up ahead from us. Luckily with Langas and my own skills we were able to be up ahead at times. The adrenaline I was feeling while I raced seemed to shove my anxiety and worry away. The feeling of being a daredevil brought fear and excitement to me.
"I will not lose!" Miya yelled out directly at us as he rode on the side of his board making my eyes widen in amazement. So cool!
I glanced up at the old mine building up ahead from us. We were already almost done, now we entered the abandoned mine. The younger boy in front is us kept moving back with his board mainly at Langa. Miya must've found out that Langa can't jump without the entrance length.
"Since I produce, results, I'm a pro" Miya points out with a smirk. Damn this kid.
"Y/n! Langa!" I hear a familiar voice yell out from the bottom.
"Reki?!" I whispered out as he raised up his hands pointing to the railing.
I glanced at Langa as we looked at the railings beside us and nodded. We had to jump on it, it was gonna be a little tricky for me since one bad slip up will cause me to go splat a floor down. I don't have anything to hold me to my board.
Miya turns his board to block us both this time be we quickly jumped on the railing with our boards. I proceeded to slide down the railing till I reached the flat surface of the last floor stair. Okay, I needed to try it, if I couldn't do it while surfing, I can do this. But one slip up could also be fatal if I don't manage to land on my board correctly or fast on it.
Mom I'm sorry I couldn't do you signature mermaid move when surfing my last competition but I will try to achieve it from skating.
I pushed my feet and body to jump up the air to do a backflip a few feet up. The whole world flipped upside down as I felt a clench in my heart. Things went in slow motion as I could see flashes and people's look from aside. I could see Langa and Miya shortly behind me as they skating down on the railing. The many gasps o people from the move I just did. I closed my eyes for a quick second as I felt things moving fast. Please. Let me do this.
My shoes landed straight back on my board a loud thud from it but continued to move forward on their own making my eyes widened. Holy shit. I felt my eyes watered as I continued to skate towards the finish line. I came to a stop on my board as I let out a breath I was holding. Holy shit. I did it. This is so different from surfing. It felt amazing.
Langa and Miya came close behind, Langa made it to second place and Miya third. Langa looked over at me with a proud smile at both of us and I smiled back widely. I felt myself being picked up from behind making me let out a small squeal of shock.
