Love vs. Money

"Ok class, we're going to have a debate, ok? First one, Love, or, money." my students became silent for a second, seems like, their making this serious.

"Love."
"Money."

Kanya kanyang sabi ang lahat, kanya kanyang paliwanag kung bakit nga ba love o money ang pinili nila. Ng matapos silang lahat, may biglang nag tanong.

"How bout you ma'am? Love, or money?" one of my intelligent student.

"Well, for me, I'll pick love. They say, money is the strongest weapon, but for me, for us, who love to love, love is the strongest weapon, It can make you happy, make you crazy, make you agressive, powerful, and sad."

They all said "Owww." silly kids, I wanna be like them, enjoying their life.

"What's your story ma'am?" I look at him, as if I'm asking what do you mean.

"There is, a story behide that answer, right?" I smiled, remembering what happened when I was just like them, teenager.

"My family is one of the most, rich, family in our village back then, not until, my mom died, my dad became depress and, changed, he use our money for useless things, then the day I've been never wanting to happened finally came."

Flashback

"Megan."
"Yes, dad?"

I loak at him, his suit is messy, hair is messy, he looks messy, his life is also messy, psh, what is he even thinking.

"You have to stop, s-studying." my eyes got big, I look at him, unbelievable. What the hell?!

"What the hell are you saying?"
"Our money is not enough, you're already going to college after this sem. Our money is, enough for, our food."

Is he crazy? Buang ba siya? Ah shit pati ako na dadamay sa kabaliwan niya eh!

"Look what you've done, you ruined everything, you ruined the company, you ruined MY MOM'S money, your life, hindi pa ba sapat yung sinira mo?! Pati buhay ko idadamay mo?!"

Rude? Nah, serves him right.

"Megan, I'll do everything, susubukan ko pa rin namang bumangon-"
"Wag mong subukan, gawin mo. Utang na loob dad, ibangon mo yung kumpanyang inalagaan ni mommy buong buhay niya."

Saka ko siya iniwan sa dinning area, at dumeretso sa kwarto ko.

"Hello?" sagot ko sa tawag.

"How are you?"
"Babe."

"You're not ok."
"I'm not."

Jasper, my boyfriend, we've been together for morethan 5 years, bata palang kami, tinago pa namin yun nung una syempre pero ngayon hindi na, legal na kami.

"What happened?"
"Dad wants me to stop studying, Jasp, you know how much I want to graduate right?"

Siya lang yung na iiyakan ko.

"I wanna hug you."
"Me too.

"Do you want me to come in there?"
"Wag na sayang pa pamasahe mo."

Not like me, well not like me before, hindi sila mayaman, ngayon hindi na kami mayaman pareho, pero wala naman yun sa pera eh.

"Hay, It will be ok babe. Don't worry, I'm just here."
"Sana, thank you babe, tulog na tayo, see you on monday."

"Good morning anak."
"What's with the good mood?"

"I finally found a way to fix our company, and I need your cooperation, I'll give you 1 week to think about it."

Kumunot yung noo ko, ano nanaman ba toh?

"You'll marry our son's investor." na patayo ako sa pag kakaupo, na ibagsak ko din yung basong hawak hawak ko, buti nga hindi na laglag eh.

"What?! Baliw ka na ba talaga?!"
"Look, I'll give you time to think ok?! It's so easy Megan, love or money? Yun lang."

"Lang dad?! Lang?! May boyfriend ako alam niyo yan! Buti sana kung wala!"
"Wag mo kong sisigawan Megan."

Mahinahon pa siya jan.

"Edi wag mong papakialaman yung buhay ko!" walk out ulit, ano pa nga ba.

"B-Babe."
"Oh? What happened? Bakit ka umiiyak."

Babe, I'm sorry.

"G-gusto akong ipakasal ni daddy, sa anak ng investor niya."
"Babe?"

B-bakit hindi siya nag sasalita, kinakabahan ako.

"Will you choose me?"

End

"Sinong pinili mo ma'am?"
"Yung boyfriend niyo po?"
"Hala."
"Ma'am."

"I choose him."

Flashback

"Babe, please sagutin mo."

Isang linggo na siyang hindi nag paparamdam, nag eemote ako ng biglang may tumawag, s-si Jasper shit.

"B-babe, pakinggan mo muna a-"
"M-megan, iha, pasensya na iha, w-wala na si Jasper, patay na ang anak ko."

End

"Omg."
"Kawawa naman si ma'am."
"Mas kawawa si Sir Jasper noh."

"I choose him than money, but, destiny played with us, because the moment I choose him, the time he decided to be gone."
