Chapter Fifty Three:

Despite his own knowledge that Adella was no longer on the property, or even in their particular timeline, everyone felt the need to search the farm. After Vanya had helped Harden, both him and his mother went to their half destroyed house to calm down.

Five watched Allison and Luther stroll back towards the barn where the rest of them waited, having no luck in the search.

"She's not here." Luther said, planting himself in the entryway, Allison stopped next to him.

"I told you." Five shook his head, mind pulling at straws. For once he didn't have a plan, he had no idea where Alfred could have taken her. He didn't know the man well, if he had, then maybe this would've been just a tad easier.

"What if she's back at Elliott's?" Luther questioned, "She could have wandered back there."

"We're being hunted by the FBI, I don't think she could've gotten that far." Allison deflected.

Five took a deep breath, "The Handler wasn't lying, she's in a different timeline."

"What?" Klaus perked up, brows raising. "If you told us that before than maybe we wouldn't of had to go looking for someone who wasn't here."

Anger flared in him, swirling towards Klaus he glared, "We'll just have to look in a different place."

"What happened to going home?" Luther questioned.

Five turned to him, eyes narrowing in disbelief. He scoffed, "Are you kidding me?"

"He's right," Allison said sadly, "I mean, we can't stay here."

He shook his head, pacing back and fourth. Of course, once again, his family was of no help. "We are not leaving until we find her."

"Five—"

"If one more person tries to calm me down, or says my name with that tone again, I will throw you off the roof."

Diego sighed, "She has a point. We'll be arrested and who knows what else if we stay here too long."

"How do you not care!" Five yelled, staring him down. "She's your sister! Your actual, blood relative and you just want to go? No, no. We are not leaving until we find her, you hear me? I am not leaving until she's standing next to me."

They were all staring at him, expressions all the same. They looked at him as if he was crazy.

"I'm not saying we should leave her, I'm just saying we need to find a place to go before we can continue to try and find her." Luther quipped, nodding. "We can't help if we're in a jail cell."

"As soon as we leave this timeline he'll bring her back here." He told himself, "He's all about tricks."

In the few times he'd seen the man, he seemed very theatrical. When Adella told him about the night he injected her with a mysterious serum, he had made a scene out of it. Like some sort of twisted play, truly acting upon his role as the villain given to him by the Handler. This was all a game to him.

"We need to get out of here." Luther said again, motioning to the doorway. The sun was setting, and it would be dark soon. "We should leave before sunrise, that way we're long gone before the feds sniff us to here."

"We aren't going anywhere." Five huffed, "We stay put until we find her. In case she comes back somehow."

"Five," Diego cut in.

"I've done all I can." Five raised his voice, staring them all down. "I've done everything for this family. I tried everything to get us back home, I had multiple opportunities for us and you all failed to show up! I did things I never wanted to do again for you, and now I only ask one thing and you can't even do that. I never ask for help, you know that. I need it now. I need to bring her back. Alive."

Klaus blinked, "Woah, you think he's gonna kill
her?"

Diego waved Klaus off, stepping towards him. "Five, listen. I know you're freaking out right now, but we're not safe here. We'll find her, okay?"

"I'm not freaking out." Five shook his head, peering around. Outside, in growing shadows, cast along the field of bodies was one upright figure. He froze, staring father. Panic seeped in, as if it was the Handler here to tear him all apart once again. He rushed to the doorway, pausing only for a moment as he noticed the height difference. It wasn't who he thought it was, considering they were dead. "If anything," his voice turned to a muffle as he took off towards the field. "You're not freaking out enough."

The snow had stopped falling, and the weather was slowly trickling back into its normal warmth suitable for Texas. The closer he got to the figure he was able to make out them to be Herb, an old friend from the commission. One of the only good ones.

"Herb!" Five shouted, racing towards him. "What are you doing here?"

The man's brows furrowed, a confused look on his eyes. "What? I-I was here earlier. Your brother asked if I could bring back a case for you all to get home."

That didn't make sense. If Herb had been here in the midst of it all, he would've noticed. And if he had been, why didn't anyone tell him? Anger rolled through him again, an emotion he kept coming back too. "Did they tell you about any issues with that?"

Herb shrugged his shoulders, "No. There's an issue?"

Five took a deep breath, staring down at the man. "Are you kidding me? They didn't enlighten you on anything?"

"Hey, Five," Luther's voice floated to him. He turned, spotting his family rushing towards him. "Wait a second."

What for what, for them to leave him there too. "No. I've had enough trying to remain calm for you all who clearly do not give a shit. Adella is missing, and we know whose taken her, and yet all you want to do is skip town. If we don't find her, he will kill her. Do you hear me! I refuse to find her dead, ok, I won't do it. So we're going to stay here until we find her, how many times will I have to say it to get it through your tiny fucking heads!"

His chest heaved up and down, he could feel his hands shake at his sides. His head throbbed, a pounding so forceful he felt as if someone was putting a hammer to it. Five shook his head, shoulders slumping. He was tired.

"Della's missing?" Herb exclaimed, "What happened?"

"Some guy named Alfred took her, I guess." Klaus piped up.

Herb nodded slowly, eyes filling with panic. He had been one of her best friends at the Commission, she loved Herb like a brother.

"Ok, well, what can I do?"

Five looked to him, for once letting his guard slip. He knew his face was broadcasting all his broken emotions, the fear that shown in his eyes.

"Help me." He breathed, shaking his head slowly. "Please. Just help me."
