-Dakota-
I woke up to a terrified looking Alexis on me. I'm confused until he starts blabbing. "I'm so so so so sorry! I d-didn't me-mean to sleep o-on you." I frown. Why's he so scared of me? "I'm so cuddly and it's annoying, I know! I'm sorry! It was an a-accident! Please d-" "It's alright! I don't mind!" I cut his rambling off.

He doesn't seem to believe me so I give him a reassuring smile and lightly place my hand on his. "I just... I always cuddle thing when I sleep. Usually my toy... I didn't even mean to sleep by you I understand if-" "Oh hush up. I don't mind at all." I pull him close to me earning a slight shriek from the small boy.

We're still laying down so I put my arm around his waist. Looking down at him, he looks a bit uneasy about being so close but he relaxes after a bit. Suddenly the bedroom door flies open and I jump away from Alexis out of reflex and instinct. "What are you doing to my mom?!" A lady yells.

I sit there, shocked for a minute. "Mama it's okay, he was comforting me!" Alexis says. He's so calm but I'm the exact opposite. Usually it's the other way around. He can tell I'm tense and nervous so he does what I'd do to make him feel better. Still laying down, he puts his arms around my waist from behind me.

"Alexis? Who? Uh-" He cuts her off. "Dakota. My friend." I smile at the word. Friend. He doesn't let his guard down much, so I'm glad he said we were friends. "O-oh..." His mother says. She looks as if she's about to burst into tears. Guess he gets his sensitivities from his mother.

She quickly walks out of the room, not bothering to close the door. I can't help but be curious. I hear Alexis's sweet voice whisper "Did I help you? You seemed scared." As he lets go of my body. I almost sigh at the loss of contact.

"You did great. Hold on I'll be back." I get up and begin walking. Before I leave I look back. Alexis looks scared at the ground, like I won't come back or something. "Right back." I repeat, making him look up into my eyes a few seconds before he smiles sweetly.

I walk to, one of the few, rooms downstairs. Though it's only one floor. Alexis's room is a attic, which I find super cool. I knock on a door, hoping it's the right one. "Y-yes?" I hear from inside the room. She sounds like she's crying. "May I... Come in?" I ask.

I don't hear anything for a few seconds but then the door opens, I smile slightly. She walks out of her room, closing the door. I follow her into the kitchen. "I'm... Sorry for the way I acted." She finally breaks the silence. "It's alright. I'd too be concerned if a strange boy woke up in my son's room." I smile and she smile back.

"It's just... Alex... He doesn't make many friends and I panicked. Your a good thing in his life and if he loses you he may not recover. I saw the way he looks at you, boy, he doesn't want to lose you and he's scared he will. But yet, he trusts you." She pauses to catch her breath. I nod.

"He was very hard to get to know." I smile. "He doesn't even stutter around you... It's so hard for him to find something good and I'm not sure how I feel about it. If you decide to leave him he'd be so... Hurt." She sighs. "I-If it helps, I don't plan on leaving or hurting him. He's special and I wouldn't want to add more problems to his life."

She just nods, thinking about what I'm saying. She finally speaks again "Please protect him. I don't know if he told you but his father and I are having a hard time keeping our marriage together. Money has always been an issue and now he has to deal a... Possible divorce. Just... Keep him safe." She sighs before walking away.

I get back up to his room and see he's changed clothes and fixed his hair, not that it looked bad because it certainly didn't. "We have school, but where'd ya go? Is mama okay?" He asks. I nod. "I had a talk and she just wanted to make sure you were okay with me." I smile. "Okay!" He smiles big. "I can ask my mom to drive us to your house, for your bag, then drive us to school." He smiles and I nod while smiling back.

His mom agreed so I gave her my address and now we're driving to my house. I'm in the back and Alexis and his mother are making smalltalk in the front seat. Once we pull up I see their faces. Pure shock. "Rich? Oh my goodness!" His mother says. "Geez Dakota, I didn't know you had that much money." Alexis says.

"You should come in Alexis." "It's actually Alex." His mom corrects. "No mama, I like when he calls me Alexis." He smiles at her and she's a bit surprised. I blush a bit. "Come inside for a minute? I just have to change quickly." I ask again.

"I... Don't want to b-break an-anything..." He frowns back at me. I giggle. "You won't. Come on!" I get out and so does he. We walk in and my parents aren't even here. He looks around in awe. "Huge!" He says. I smile. "Yeah I basically get it all to myself, my parents are usually away on business."

"Oh. Cool." He looks at me, smiling. I take him to my room, which is luckily on the first floor. "Wait here, I'll change." I say, he nods. I do my thing and grab my bag. I open my door and Alexis jumps a bit. "Sheesh, scared me." He giggles and I chuckle as well. "Maybe I should stay the night he-here since you stayed a-at mine. S-sorry I express my thoughts a lot around you a-a lot for some reason."

He looks down, embarrassed. "Hey." I grab his hand slowly. He looks up at me smiling now. "I don't mind, in face I like it. But we should go before your mom gets angry. Plus we don't want to be late, do we?" I ask playfully and he nods and giggles.

I reluctantly let go of his hand as we reach my front door. He looks back at me with sad, puppy eyes. "I don't want your mom to get the wrong idea..." I admit. He sighs. "R-right." He tried to hide it but I can see the sadness on his face. I pull him into a hug, slowly making sure not to scare him.

This cheers him up and he's smiling when I pull away. "That's it, keep that smile it looks good on you! Now come." I say and open my door. Once we get back in the car his mother turns to me. "What is your name She asks, raising an eyebrow. "Dakota Davidson." She nods. "I've met your parents, once. They were quite rude." I feel guilty. "S-sorry they can be as-um that way sometimes." I say, unsure if I should cuss in front of my new friends mom.

"Let's just get going. You better not be like them or treat my baby like he's less than you due to money." She says angry, but trying to hide it. "I'd never. I'm not like my parents and Alexis is great, no matter his amount of money." I turn to face him, he looks away blushing. "Ya know... He doesn't even let me call him Alexis, and I named him that." She giggles quietly and I smile, still looking at Alexis.
