I left the house that morning at the same time i normally did to pick up kenma, but i just walked slower. I would play a couple games here and there on my phone and just take a look around; adjust my tie if it got uncomfortable; just...normal things

but it felt so abnormal without kenma.

"Tensai-chaaannn! wait upppppp!"

i turned around and saw Matsuomoto running up to me.

"oh, good morning, Matsuomoto-kun"

"yeah, haha, morning" he smiled, shaking his head back and forth for a couple seconds, taking his fingers through the slightly damp mop on top of his head.

"Kozume-san isn't walking with you again?" he asked concernedly

"no, he said he wanted to walk by himself...again..."

"aw man, that sucks, i'm sorry. i noticed the two of you are close"

"ah, yeah we are"

"are you both dating? or are you dating kuroo-senpai?"

i laughed nervously to cover up my mind trying to decide wether or not to tell him. finally i came to my decision.

"ah, yeah, him and i are dating"

"and he doesn't want to walk with you!?!"

"nope, i guess not"

"well, maybe he'll change his mind later tonight or at the latest tomorrow morning"

"maybe..."

i stood there with Asami as she was running around grabbing stray volleyballs with me. she didn't have volleyball practice for the girls team because the coach called in sick so she decided to grace us all at the boys' team with her presence.

"so! that makes what...1 2 3 4 5... 9 10 11... like 28 for me?" she perkily asked me as she counted the completely full ball bin to her right

"and 30 for me" i joked back in a cocky tone and her face twisted in fake jealousy

"well, not everyone can flop around like a fish all day grabbing volleyballs" she giggled lazily throwing a volleyball at me

"right, right, and who's the one who plays the sport but can't keep up with me"

we both laughed and pulled the ball carts to the other side of the gym where the boys were taking a water break.

"hey, do you want to come over to my house after practice? i'm sure my mom will let you sleep over now that Morisuke isn't home and off in college"

"oh, sure. i haven't seen your mom in a while so it'll be nice"

"she's been non stop calling morisuke since he's all the way in hokkaido for college. so i think if she can collect another child it'll make her feel better" Asami laughed as we went to go fill up the water bottles.
