"you got jealous?" I looked over to Kenma with a confused face.

"yeah, I'm sorry, is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" he looked up from his feet and made eye contact with me.

"what exactly made you jealous?" I tilted my head, fiddling with the strap on my school bag as I waited for his answer.

"he was flirting with you and stuff... he wanted you to go to the vending machines with him so he could flirt with you and maybe make a move..." he pursed his lips and went back to looking down at the ground.

"Kenma," I sighed, the tension built up in my body finally relaxing.

"and it's not like I'm any competition to him. Mr tall strong and inheritor of quite obviously a million-dollar company."

"Kenma."

"and it just made me compare myself a lot and it's like, what does this scrawny little introverted gamer boy with the looks of a hyena-"

"KENMA." I frowned at the fact I yelled at him, truly. I actually felt a tinge in my stomach and guilt overwhelm me, especially when he looked back up to my face with wide eyes.

"I'm sor-"

"stop apologizing. Look, I wasn't mad at you in the first place. Was I a little worried? yes. Was it a little jarring when you randomly grabbed my arm? obviously. But I certainly wasn't angry. Of course you're no competition to him, you're on the number one podium and he's not even in the top 50"

"who's in your top 50?"

"my anime crushes- you ask too many questions" I furrowed my brow in mock anger of him asking that question. He giggled into his fist before looking over to me with the same sweet, soft smile I'm so used to seeing from him.

I won't lie, it made a little fluster of butterflies swarm in my stomach.

We continued walking to the little cafe, finally reaching it. I looked up to the sign, reading the bright pink cursive kanji, hiragana, and katakana. Kenma opened up the door and let me walk in first. The smell of sweet and rich cocoa filled the air along with hints of fresh fruit. It definitely was something to make your mouth water.

A waitress quickly led us to our table and left us to go over the menu. I peeked over the tall laminated sheets to see if Kenma was still looking. His brows were furrowed as he scanned all the rows.

"can't figure out what to get?" I spoke while moving to look at the other side of the menu.

"I can't choose between like three things"

"which three things?" I set my menu down and looked up at him

"they're all taiyaki, it's just choosing what kind. They don't have apple pie so I'm stuck having to play the guessing game" he fummed, eyes flitting back and forth to either side of the menu trying to find pictures.

"what if you get one flavor and I get one flavor? that means you only have to eliminate one"

"no, I don't want to take your order"

"I can't even figure out what I want so it's fine"

After about ten minutes of tactful persuasion Kenma finally gave in, ordering a strawberry and a matcha taiyaki. when the plates finally came I had stars in my eyes at how good they looked.

"hey, when we get home do you want to stream for a little?" Kenma looked up from his plate, just barely having his spoon stabbing into the ice cream.
