I sighed taking light steps down the hall in search of Kenma. Although my steps were quiet my heart beat amplified through my ears louder than the bass at a concert. I looked out to my left onto the courtyard that was only dimly lit by the few lights along the roof support beams.

I went to our classroom first to see if he was there, maybe sitting in his desk playing video games or fiddling with his fingers. I hated my legs for moving faster than my mind, but deep down it was like I was subconsciously knowing I was going to thank myself.

I stopped in my tracks in the middle of the hallway with the 3rd year classes. Was this really what I wanted or should be doing? What would Asami do? Kuroo? Shinjiro? Mom

I thought back to one of the things my grandma told me about my mom when I was a child, and vaguely remember my mom telling me when I was young as well.

My grandma and I sat in the park, it was the middle of winter and snow blanketed the ground as we sat on a bench in the gazebo looking out onto the frozen over lake. She had an arm wrapped around me as I swung my begs back and forth since my feet didn't touch the ground.

A little boy had passed us and smiled and waved at me. His cheeks and nose glowed bright red from the nipping cold of January. I didn't know who he was, but I just reciprocated the smile and wave.

My grandmother laughed, rubbing my hair with her mitten-covered hand. "ne, Kireina-chan, do you know him?"

"No, he smiled and waved to me so I did it back" I replied, confused as to where she was going with this. A warm smile still rested upon her face, although you could only tell by her eyes as her mouth and nose were nuzzled into her scarf.

"You and your mother are so similar," she smiled fondly, looking back out onto the lake, "she did that even up until highschool. If a boy gave her just a simple smile, she'd smile brighter and give them a wave. It seemed almost like a competition, but boy did it hook the young men in"

"Was that how dad approached her?"

"no, no. Those two met through a friend of hers. She'd always told me life had a funny way of doing things and that your heart controlled your mind. She said she just walked right up to your father, and introduced herself. According to her, "her feet moved on their own""

"is that what happens to everyone when they like someone?" I asked, Looking out onto a young couple walking around the bend and about to cross a bridge over a frost covered field.

"I don't know about that, sweetie. I think everyone's different"

I looked to my feet. thinking long and hard about my dilemma. the heart controlled the mind. Maybe I was more similar to my mom than I'd thought.

'I'm already most of the way there, might as well go' I thought to myself. My feet picked up their pace again and finally I made it to the classroom, pulling the door open.

It was empty, all for except the furniture and school supplies. Someone forgot their coat but that was about it.

I laughed, biting back tears of frustration with myself, I was already so discouraged. This is definitely a sign to stop.

But when have I ever listened to signs.

I turned around, closing the door behind me and walking to the roof. That was the next best place. The hardest part though...which roof?

Nekoma is broken down into five buildings. Three of the buildings are classrooms and the like. Each being for their own grade respectively. The first year building housed all science clubrooms, Second had any miscellaneous rooms needed, and Third held the club rooms for clubs like year book and student council. Then, on the fourth side of the courtyard were the gyms. On the other sides of gyms 1,2, and 3 were clubrooms for the athletic clubs. The 5th building was just the cafeteria.
