There was a guy and all you knew was that he was a major bookworm. He would come in into your store almost every day but sometimes he wouldn't show up for days at a time. Sometimes he came in to buy books and sometimes he sat on a sofa and read for hours. He must have been some type of genius since he would flip the pages so fast, at first you thought he just did it to look smart.

"Hey Y/n"

"Hey Mr.Patterson" you watched the grey-haired man walk towards the back of the store

Mr.Patterson was the owner of this book store but you ran everything. You didn't mind spending most of your life here, it was quiet and you got to read most of the time. Your life wasn't always simple, it was very eventful until you decided to settle down and live a life that involved the least amount of stress.

"Would you mind setting up the new coffee maker?" He spoke as he placed the box on the counter

"Yep no problem" you smiled

"Thank you, you're my best employee" he cheered as he returned to the back of the store

"I'm your only employee" you giggled and grabbed the keys sitting in the counter and walked towards the entrance, unlocking the door and flipping the closed sign to open, and walked back to your counter

The counter faced the entrance which gave you a view of who walked in and out. There were shelves that aligned the entrance which leads to the back with more books along with a flight of stairs and led upstairs, with even more books. There was one bookshelf behind you that you stored all the books you wanted to read. The counter had the cash register on the end and you had a sofa to sit in behind it, although there were many comfortable spots to sit and read on a slow day.

You began to unpack the coffee machine and set it up but there was a kink to it because it wouldn't turn on. You hadn't realized someone was standing on the other side of the counter.

"Sorry" you mumbled and looked up to find out it was the guy

"Do you need help?" he pointed towards the machine you were about to toss out the door

"Oh yeah I just can't get this stupid thing to turn on I'm pretty sure the old man got it from a yard sale" you joked

"It's okay I have the same one at work, here" he put the book down on the counter and pulled the machine towards him

You were too busy admiring his face to see what he actually did. His hair was messy and brown, his eyes were hazel and sometimes looked green in certain lighting. His lips were a soft pink tone and he was tall. He always wore a suit and an old satchel probably for work.

"All done" he smiled and the pot began to fill with coffee

"Thanks" you bent down and grabbed a disposable coffee cup from the bin below you and handed it to him "You can have the first cup"

"Thank you, I love coffee" he moved out the way when another customer placed a couple of books and magazines on the counter

"Well hello there" his voice was snobby and you cringed at his smirk

"Hey" you began to scan the books up

"So how about we get to know each other a little better" he leaned against the counter

"I don't think so" you laughed a little

"Oh come on why not"

"Mhm" you hummed "I'm only into guys that listen to Wagner and you don't look like the type"

"Are you kidding I love Wagner" he tried to flick back his hair, honestly you were embarrassed for him

"Really, my favorite is the Tragic Overture" you fluttered your eyelashes and looked up at him with a smile

"Yes that's my favorite too, I love the Tragic Overture it's such a classic" he exclaimed

You glanced over at the man with the beautiful brown hair who knew what was about to happen, he had a small smirk on his face while he poured his coffee into the cup

"Really because the Tragic Overture was written by Brahms, not Wagner so I guess after all your not my type" you grinned "and you're a liar"

He dropped the smile and didn't even pay for the books, he left them on the counter. He muttered some words under his breath and walked out of the store. Once the door closed behind him you looked over at the guy and the both of you burst into a fit of laughter.

"That was a pure genius move" he leaned against the counter and took a swig of his coffee

"What can I say, I know a snob when I see one" you shrugged

"So uh- what's your name again" he questioned

"Y/n" you smiled and began to fidget with your fingers

"I'm Spencer"

"Spencer" you repeated to yourself "Nice to meet you" you grabbed the book he was buying and scanned it "Officially"

"Nice to meet you too" he rocked back and forth on his heels and paid, he opened his satchel and dropped his book inside

"Well I will see you around Y/n" he gave you an awkward smile and a small wave

You watched him walk away and felt a warm feeling in your heart. "See you around"

"You should just ask that boy out"

"What" you looked up to find Mr. Patterson looking down at you from the second story

"You have been watching him like a stalker for weeks, ask him out already" he leaned against the railing

"I have not" you yelped

"Yes you have, just ask him it won't kill you" he sighed and began to walk away "Young people" he shook his head

"You know what just for that I will"

"No you won't" he laughed

You giggled and shook your head "Fine I will try" you looked back down and collected the books the previous customer had left and walked around to put them back in their places.
