Tw: mentions of not sleeping well but that's it

Patton stood at he and Janus's kitchen counter, a glass of water in hand, in the house they'd finally been able to buy together. They were still in the process of moving in, and you could see all the half empty boxes scattered around.

It was currently 2 am, and Patton should be in bed, curled up to Janus's side and sleeping, but he hadn't been able to fall asleep, just stuck laying there as thoughts raced through his head for hours until he'd eventually gotten up to use the bathroom and get some water.

The moon was shining, bright and full, illuminating the kitchen. The stars were twinkling, small dots of light shining across the dark sky.

Suddenly the kitchen light up behind him. "Dearest?" Janus's voice was still rough from just waking up. "It's 2 am, are you alright?" He made his way across the tiled floor to stand beside Patton, lazily wrapping his arms around his waist and laid his head on Patton's shoulder.

"Hey Jan." Patton's voice was quiet and gentle. "I couldn't sleep, I guess I couldn't stop thinking..." He trailed off, opting to wrap an arm around Janus.

Janus perked his head up. "About what?"

"Tell you tomorrow?" Patton didn't want to talk about this now.

"Mhm." Janus nodded and kissed his cheek. "I'll always be here for you my dear."

Patton smiled and kissed Janus's head when he laid it back down on his shoulder. "I know. Thank you Jan."

Janus pulled back from the sideways hug he'd trapped Patton in, and pulled his phone from his pajama pants pocket. He turned on Like Real People Do by Hozier, and reached past Patton to set his phone on the counter.

He leaned back and presented his hand to Patton, bowing slightly. "May I have this dance?"

Patton nodded and took Janus's hand, allowing him to slip the other around his waist and lead them.

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you, neither should you

Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

I knew that look dear
Eyes always seeking
Was there in someone
That dug long ago
So I will not ask you
Why you were creeping
In some sad way I already know

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you and neither would you

Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

I could not ask you where you came from
I could not ask you, neither could you

Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We could just kiss like real people do

They continued to dance as the song played, swaying to the music and gazing into each other's eyes. As the song ended, they both leaned in, kissing slowly and softly, as if there was nothing else in the world but the other.

The pulled apart to catch their breath, and Janus spoke. "Let's go back to bed now dear...you need rest. I'll hold you all night, if you like."

Patton held on to Janus tighter, pulling him closer. "Please?"

Janus kissed his cheek once more. "Of course dear, come on now."

Janus led him back to their bed, pulling him close when they got there, kissing his forehead before closing his eyes and falling into a peaceful sleep.
