1: Crisis

"Because, when you're scared but you still do it anyway, that's brave."

A sweet old house maid rushed up the stairs of the grand penthouse to a luxurious corridor decorated just as beautifully as the rest of the house.

She headed towards a large room with a huge bed in the middle, adorned with silk sheets and fluffy feather pillows. Above it hung a beautiful ornate chandelier just ahead of enormous glass walls that lead out to a great balcony with the most amazing view of the city of Washington D.C.

She lightly knocked the nicely carved wooden doors and received a simple nod from the young and flawless lady seated in her dressing table applying a delicate layer of lipgloss. Her bright brown hair shone as rays of light reflected on her. She had deep, dark eyes to match perfectly with her light skintone. Her poise and elegance showed clearly in her movements and nature in her attitude.

"Good morning Miss Rita." The old house maid greeted her.

Her sweet and loving voice rang around the room. "Good morning Christy." She stood up and courteously smiled at her maid. Her red heels echoed throughout the room and matched her rose red blazer which she put over a white silky blouse with a black pencil skirt that ended a little above her knees. It was a perfect office attire that hugged her curves beautifully and just enough showed off her milky white cleavage, but left her cultured looking at the same time.

"Pamela is waiting for you downstairs." Christy informed.

"Thank you Christy. By the way, please receive the dress Lilian Roxx will send soon. She's designed it especially for tonight's success party which Cavill Industries have thrown." Valerita told her.

"Yes ma'am." Christy replied.

Then Valerita sped off downstairs to meet her secretary, Pamela Johnson.

"Good morning Ms. Monroy." Pamela greeted.

"Good morning. So what's the reason for your presence here? I was coming down to the office in a minute." Valerita inquired as she headed towards her private elevator as Pamela followed.

Once in the elevator Pamela spoke. "There's a crisis in our shipping port in California. The workers are on strike, public support is increasing against us, our shipping lines declined. I believe the crash of our last cargo ship triggered this. The workers are stating that our company is hazardous. At this rate our competitions will drive us out of business. Losing our most important port will be a nightmare for the company."

Valerita sighed as anger and upset grew in her. She could not afford to lose her family's last hope.

"I understand.... Our other businesses are running smoothly?"

"The hotels, resorts and restaurants are fine. Our fashion house is booming with success as you'll model Lilian Roxx's newest design this evening. The mines are normal and jewelry stores are fine."

"Good."

"But the port is still a very crucial point ma'am." Pamela noted as the elevator doors opened to a busy floor and they stepped out.

The two ladies ended up in Valerita's office after a moment. Arranged with a glass desk having all her files organised, a huge, flat screen t.v in one end and a balcony resembling her bedroom in the other. The large office was surrounded by glass walls through which Valerita could keep track of all the other employees on the floor. This was the 39th floor of Monroy Industries' central building, just below her penthouse suite.

"Organise a meeting right now with the heads of departments." Valerita ordered and swiftly took her seat on her black comfy office chair.

Quickly, Pamela sped from the office to deliver the order to the heads.

The day seemed to bring glum over Valerita currently. She wished so badly her parents were here to tell her what to do. She didn't want to lose the company. It was her parents' last memory. And she would do anything to save it.
