Switched Chapter 9

Chapter 9: Honeymoon

The whole three days passed smoothly. Puro photoshoot lang ang pinagkaabalahan namin at ang pag-aayos ng mga dokumentong kakailanganin para sa marriage certificate na pipirmahan namin sa araw ng kasal, kung kasal bang matatawag iyon.

Vince and I stayed the same. After that day we remained civil with each other. Hindi ko alam kung para saan iyong halik na ibinigay niya sa akin at wala akong balik tanungin sa kaniya kung para saan iyon.

I'm scared to know his answer because I know that whatever his answer is, it will gave me a deep heartache. I'm just a replacement of my twinsister and I should put that deep in my mind.

"I can't sleep..." I whispered to myself, lying down on the bed while my back is facing Vince.

Sa lumipas na tatlong araw ay palagi kaming magkatabing matulog. Well, I don't have a problem with that as long as there's a pillow between us. Siya rin naman ang nagpupumilit na maglagay ng unan sa gitna naming dalawa so sleeping beside him is already not a big deal for me.

Dahan-dahan 'kong tinanggal ang nakabalot na comforter sa katawan at umupo. I looked at the digital alarm clock on top of the bedside table and I saw that it's already 2 in the morning.

I exhaled deeply before glancing at Vince who's sleeping peacefully before wearing my comfy slippers. Tumayo ako at tumungo sa veranda. Dahan-dahan 'kong binuksan ang glass door na humahati sa kwarto at veranda at nang mabuksan iyon ay sumalubong sa akin ang malamig na simoy ng hangin.

Napayakap ako sa sarili at napapikit dahil sa hanging bumalot sa katawan ko. I carefully and quickly closed the door behind me dahil baka maalimpungatan pa si Vince dahil sa tunog ng hangin dito sa labas.

I'm still hugging myself when I leaned against the railings. I can see the whole Las Vegas from where I'm standing, the lights from the buildings and vehicles welcomed my sight.

"Beautiful..." My lips curved upward for a smile.

Sunod na bumababa ang tingin ko sa kaliwang kamay kong nakahawak sa kanang braso ko ngayon. My eyes focused on the ring on my ring finger. It's the engagement ring Vince gave me. I unconsciously licked my lower lip while looking at it. Pumungay ang mga mata ko at malalim ulit na napabuntong-hininga.

This ring is not mine. It's not supposed to be mine.

Napatalon ako mula sa malalim na pag-iisip nang marinig ang pagbukas ng pinto sa likod ko. I immediately looked behind me and I saw Vince who's looking at me using his sleepy eyes and messy hair. I gulped and immediately averted my gaze.

Lumingon nalang ulit ako sa harap habang mahigpit ang pagkakayakap sa sarili. My heartbeat started to beat rapidly again!

"Can't sleep?" He asked when he's already beside me.

I can see on the side of my eye that he's staring at me using those sleepy eyes.

"Y-Yeah." I croaked and bit my lower lip.

I saw him nodded without saying anything. Natahimik ulit kami ng ilang minuto bago niya binasag ang katahimikan sa gitna namin.

"Why can't you sleep?" He asked again.

Huminga ako ng malalim at nahaplos ang braso dahil sa lamig na nararamdaman. I'm just wearing a shirt and cotton shorts right now.

"M-Maybe I'm just m-missing home." I reasoned out without looking at him.

"You're talking to me but you're not looking at me. Rude huh?" He chuckled huskily.

Napasinghap ako nang magtama ang mga braso namin nang lumapit pa siya.
