Chapter 22: Elevator

My heart is beating so fast because of nervousness. He's walking towards me! Vince Archer Callahan is walking towards me. Damn it!

I stepped back because of nervousness and was about to run away when I realized that I'm wearing a mask. Right! He doesn't know me! He can't see my face! So why would I run away and escape from him?

I straightened my back and composed myself. Georgina's silently squealing behind me making me roll my eyes.

Alleira was nowhere to be found. I don't know where she is and I also don't care about it.

I swallowed hard while staring at Vince's deep gray eyes.

"What do you need, Mr. Callahan?" I asked casually.

His lips slightly tugged up for a smirk but he remained serious.

"When will we meet?" He asked making me frowned curiously.

"Meet? For what?"

"For the painting." He said as a matter of fact.

Suminghap ako at parang gusto kong batukan ang sarili dahil sa pagiging lutang! How could I forget about my painting that he bid a large amount of money to?

"Oh, about the painting. You're going to talk to my assistant for that." I lied.

I don't have an assistant for goodness sake! I can't risk it with Vince! I can't meet him personally knowing that I have the same face as my sister! His wife!

"But I wanted to talk to you personally, Ms. Montebello." He said my last name with conviction.

I swallowed hard and plastered a smirk on my lips.

"You're just the same as my other buyers, Mr. Callahan. You're not someone special so why would I give you a special treatment?"

He groaned inwardly because of what I've said. His dark gray eyes pierce through me like he's reading me or something.

"I bought your painting for a high price." He continued.

"I didn't ask you to. You volunteered to pay for it for that price."

I can't let him win! Even I badly wanted to meet him without any other person around us. Even I wanted to let him see my real face, I can't! He's married and I promised to myself that I'll never let him see me again!

I saw how she throw sharp glares at me. Maybe, because of what happened earlier huh?

I immediately excused myself after that. Right after I went out, reporters instantly flocked around me. I held my mask tightly while walking my way out.

When Tita Veron agreed, pumara kaagad ako ng taxi pauwi. Tita Veron has the duplicate key of my car, siya nalang ang gagamit ng sasakyan ko pauwi.

I felt exhausted.

Memories of earlier keep on repeating inside my mind. I promised myself that I'll avoid them no matter what but I ended up doing the opposite.
