Chapter 17: Love

I stilled because of Vince's stern and angry voice before I felt his hands pulling me away from James. Maingat ngunit mariin niya akong inilagay sa likod niya at nakipagtagisan ng titig sa lalaking kaharap.

I groaned. Pumagitna ako sa kanila at hinarap si Vince dahil alam kong galit na naman siya. Just by his unrelaxed shoulders, clenching jaw, and piercing gaze, I know that he's pissed right now.

"We're just talking, okay?" I said.

He's gray eyes moved to meet mine. Pakiramdam ko ay hinihigop ako ng mga matang iyon dahil sa dilim at lalim ng titig niya.

"Talking about what?" He then raised his gaze to look at James again. "And why does he need to touch you?"

I exhaled deeply and slightly pushed Vince chest to put a bigger space between the two of them.

"Vince, James is my friend. And he's here because he wants to talk with you so stop being jealous, okay?" I raised my brow and pursed my lips.

Bumaba ang tingin niya sa akin. He's looking at me with amused eyes and the corner of his lips slightly tugged up for a smirk. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin at umalis na sa gitna nila.

"What do you want to talk about?" Walang emosyong tanong ni Vince kay James.

Umupo naman ako sa sofa na medyo isang metro ang layo sa kanila at nagscroll nalang sa social media para abalahin ang sarili. When I looked at them again, Vince is already sitting in his swivel chair while seriously talking to James who's sitting in front of him.

They're talking about pure business. Nang lumingon sa akin si Vince ay agad akong nag-iwas ng tingin at tumitig nalang ulit sa cellphone. After a few minutes ay sabay silang tumayo. Napatayo rin tuloy ako at lumapit na sa kanila.

"Tapos na kayo?" I asked them.

"Yup." Si James at lumingon sa akin.

I saw in his eyes that he wants to talk to me, maybe about the reason behind my marriage with Vince. Hinintay 'kong sabihin niya na mag-usap kami pero walang lumabas sa labi niya.

"I'm leaving." Ika niya pagkatapos ng ilang segundo at tumango sa amin ni Vince na nasa likod ko na pala!

Pagkalabas ni James ay pumihit kaagad ako paharap kay Vince at sinalubong kaagad ako ng kulay abo niyang mga mata.

"What?" I frowned when he's just staring at me.

He puffed a breath before he silently guide me towards the sofa. Umupo siya doon at umupo naman ako sa tabi niya. I can sense that he wants to tell me something.

"I'll be gone for a week." He stated with his jaw slightly clenching.

"For what?" I asked calmly even though I'm shocked by his news.

"I have a business trip to go to and it's in Cali." I can hear him almost groaning because of frustration.

"It's okay. One week lang naman." I smiled assuringly.

His eyes stayed at mine before he held my hand and played with my fingers, slightly tickling my palm.

"Pwede ba kitang isama?" He whispered huskily. Tutok ang mga mata sa kamay ko.

My lips curved up unconsciously for a smirk because of his cuteness! He's being clingy again and I like this side of him.

"Hindi pwede." I smirked.

"Why?" Kunot-noong tanong niya at inangat na ang tingin sa akin.

His eyes bear so much emotion that are unreadable for me.
