*jens pov*

I woke up this morning to some type of loud commotion. I roll out of bed, and realize it's the sound of arguing. But I can only hear it faintly since it's coming from next door.

I rub my eyes and go and get ready for the day. I come downstairs to see my mom looking out the window. "Nosy much?" I giggle and she jumps a little since I scared her. "I just wanna know what they're arguing about..." She says and peaks again.

"Is it coming from Leah's house?" I ask. "Yep." She says. "It's probably her dickhead ex." I say. "They've been going at it for at least an hour." She says. "Sofia isn't there, is she?" I ask. "No, she's probably at school." She says and I nod.

I've babysat Sofia 2 times since the first time. And we have a pretty good bond, I'd hate for her to have to experience that.

"By the way I was right, about Leah's ex." I say. "What about him?" She asks. "He is a douche. He left Leah and Sofia for someone else, and he doesn't give Sofia any attention." I tell her.

"Well I could've guessed that." She rolls her eyes and walks away from the window. "I feel so bad for her." My mom says. "Who? Leah?" I ask. "Sofia." My mom says. "Me too, but I feel bad for Leah. I mean, I can't imagine what she's going through." I shake my head.

"You should go over there." My mom suggests. "And interrupt their little screaming fest? I'm okay." I say. "I don't mean right now. Once he leaves, go and check on Leah." She says. "Why don't you?" I ask. "Jennifer- just do what I say.
You babysit her kid, you've talked to her more than me." She says.

"Yeah but I doubt I'd be anymore comforting to her than you." I say. "I'm sure you can think of something." She tells me and I sigh. "Ok." I say.

I go on with my day, and eventually the arguing dies down from next door. I don't wanna just barge in since Leah probably isn't in a good mood, but the fighting sounded serious, so I decide to stop by once her ex's car is gone.

I ring the doorbell, and after a while, Leah answers. My smile fades when I notice the mascara running down her cheeks. Her makeup is messed up from her crying, but she still manages to look pretty, in a vulnerable way.

"My god, Leah..." I say softly. I glance behind her and notice a broken vase on the floor in the hall. "Hey.." She says, totally over it. "Hey, lemme help you clean up." I say and look at the mess again. "Jennifer you don't have t-." I cut her off. "Leah, please let me come in." I tilt my head and she sighs.

She steps out of the way and I walk in. "Are you okay?" I ask after observing the mess. "Oh, I'm okay, it's not a big deal." She shrugs. It's funny because her face definitely does not match her mood right now. I expected her to be really upset, but she's just over this bullshit. "Not a big deal? Leah look at this." I say.

"Jennifer, you're Sofia's babysitter, you don't have to come over here and get worried about me." She says. "I'm not just Sofia's babysitter, I'm your friend. I like talking to you, and I'll help you with whatever you want, I'll do whatever you want." I tell her.

She smiles and I tilt my head. "I'll help you." I say and squat down, picking up the shards of glass from the vase. Leah helps me and we put it in the trash, then she wipes up the water that spilled out of it, along with the flowers.

"Did he do this?" I ask. "It was an accident." She shrugs. "What happened?" I ask. "I don't want to talk about it Jennifer, we just- don't get along." She shakes her head. "I can see that." I say and she looks at me unamused.

"I'm sorry." I press my lips. "I should go get cleaned up." She says. "Want me to come with?" I ask. "Jennifer, why don't you go home? I'll be fine." She says. "I know you will, but that doesn't mean I want to leave." I say.

She sighs and looks at me. "Ok. C'mon." She says and I follow her upstairs. We go to the bathroom and she starts to fix her makeup.

She takes it all off so she can start over. "Why don't you keep it off?" I ask. "So I can look presentable for work." She says. "You look so pretty without makeup on." I say softly and she looks at me through the mirror.

"Thankyou." She says. "You're a suck up, you know that?" She says and I smile a little. "I'm just being nice." I shrug. "Yeah, well you compliment me every chance you get." She raises one brow.

"You deserve to be complimented." I shrug. "What's your deal?" She smirks and turns to me, leaning her back against the counter. "There is no deal." I say and look at my finger nails.

"You're nothing like the young adults I've met nowadays." She observes. "I don't know, I guess I'm special." I tease. "Guess so." She eyes me down then turns around to finish her makeup.

I look down her body in her tight dress, and I never realized how good of an ass she has. I mean, she has asked me to look at it and make sure it looks good, but I just glanced because I didn't wanna be weird.

"You look nice." I compliment her again, unintentionally. I only said something because her outfit really does look pretty. "See?" She laughs. "Sorry." I shake my head.

"Don't be sorry. It's flattering." She says and continues. Eventually she finishes her makeup and turns to me. "Do I look okay?" She asks. "Mhm." I nod. "Do mine." I say and hop up on the counter.

She smiles, a little surprised. "Well you got comfortable quickly.." She giggles and puts down her eyeliner pencil. I smile and just stare at her. "You want me to do your makeup?" She raises one brow. "Yeah." I nod. "Why?" She asks.

"Because I want you to." I shrug. She looks at me and just shakes her head. "Okay.." She smiles and goes through her makeup.

"What color?" She asks, holding the eyeshadow pallet. "You pick." I say and she listens. She comes really close, with her hips touching my knees, and starts to do my makeup.

"You have such nice skin." She observes and does my eyeliner. "Thanks." I say, trying to keep still. I watch as she focuses with her eyes.

"Done." She smiles and i turn my head to the mirrors "Damn." I say. "For a girl who can't apply false eyelashes, you're really good at makeup." I say to her.

She giggles and puts her makeup away. "Sofia always likes when I do her makeup. She has since she was 5. So I guess I've had the practice." She shrugs.

"I saw Sofia out in the garden with you." I bring up. "Yeah?" She asks. "Mhm." I nod. "She told me that you gave her the idea for her new dream." She says. "What's that?" I ask. "She wants to go to college for agriculture." She says. "Really?" I ask and she nods.

"How do you feel now that you know I put that in your daughters head?" I ask. "I told her it was a great idea. She never really thought about her future, so I'm glad you gave her an idea." She says.

"Oh. Well you're very welcome." I smile. She goes to grab some setting spray and lightly sprays it on my face. She puts it down and softly pats under eyes so it'll dry. She keeps her eyes where she's touching, then she moves her eyes to mine.

She smiles while lightly biting her lip. I've noticed that she always bites her lip when she's doing her makeup, or trying to focus. I keep my eyes at hers and she rests her brows. "What?" She asks softly, still really close to my face.

I smile for a second, but I can't play it off. Without thinking, I lean in and kiss her. I feel her body get surprised, but she doesn't pull away.

She puts her hands up to my shoulders and pulls herself away. I widen my eyes once I realize what I just did. "Oh my god-.." I say and she just keeps this look of slight shock on her face.

"I'm sorry, I should go." I say and get off the counter. She doesn't say anything, and I just walk out.

I go home and head straight to my room. I shut my door and lean against it. "Shit." I mutter. I go over to my vanity and sit down. I look in the mirror and notice the makeup still on my face.

I can't help but smile a little since I kissed her. I know I'm attracted to her, but I didn't realize I wanted to kiss her until it happened. But this changes everything.
