Chapter 14

Waking up to the noise of her alarm clock, (Y/n) yawned. Sitting up, she looked around, not understanding why she was in her room. Looking down, she realized she was still wearing her clothes from the day before, which to her, she found slightly unsettling.

Getting out of bed, she took a shower and begun her day like any other. As she combed through her hair with her fingers, she looked at her phone to where she found a message from Tendou. It addressed the events from the night before and how she had fallen asleep on the subway train to which he returned her home. He also included that he would be there with Ushijima in around 15 minutes to pick her up so that they could walk home together. 

When (Y/n) had read that, she cursed herself for causing more trouble than before. Sighing, she packed her bag and patiently waited in front of her apartment complex, awaiting the arrival of the two males. 

Eagerly rushing up to the (h/c)-haired girl, Tendou hugged (Y/n) after he had greeted her. 

"Good morning, Tendou, Ushijima!" (Y/n) smiled, waving to the two of them after the redhead had let go of her. 

"Good morning, (Y/n)-san," Ushijima greeted back. 

As the trio walked to school, Tendou shared what he and (Y/n) had done the previous days, leaving all of the more private scenes out of the conversation out of respect of (Y/n)'s private life. When Ushijima replied to all of the things his friend had said, he added that all he had done was study and practice to which Tendou replied with he must have had fun. 

Getting to their school and in their classroom, the three split up and made their way towards their respective desks. As the teacher walked in, he explained all of what they would be doing that day and asked his students to take out their textbooks and assigned them all the pages to which they were supposed to read and questions they were supposed to complete.

As time passed and the time for lunch came. Getting up, Tendou asked Ushijima and (Y/n) to leave him behind as he needed to ask the teacher a few questions before departing. When the two left, he promptly made his way towards the teacher and posed his question. 

Answering the boy, Tendou thanked the teacher and exited the room, however, as he did, he stopped dead in his tracks. 

"Why's Tendou of all people hanging out with the new girl?" 

"Yeah, I know right? It was bad enough when he started hanging out with Ushijima." 

"If he's trying to flirt, he should know she's out of his league." 

Listening to all of this being said, he clenched his fist and ignored it as much as he could, making his way towards the cafeteria. When he got his food, he sat down with the rest of the volleyball team, trying to block out the previous words of his classmates. He knew better than to let their words get to him as they have already been said to him on multiple occasions. Something like this had already happened when he became friends with Ushijima. People questioned why he was the one next to him and not some other more talented and good-looking person. Now, he could only let his mind wander to where their minds went when they saw (Y/n) and Tendou get along.  

Looking at the girl who was currently engaged in a conversation with Goshiki, he stared, wondering why someone as skilled, smart, and beautiful as (Y/n), would dare spend their time with him, much less enjoy the time she spent with him. He thought he was simply lucky to have been able to spend so much intimate with the (h/c)-haired girl. 

Although both (Y/n) and Tendou thought that they were lucky to have each other, they believed that they did not believe that they deserved each other. Tendou had always been alone before he joined Shiratorizawa and (Y/n)'s feelings have always been misinterpreted. So soon as the two of them met and connected, it felt as though a piece of them was being filled, a pieced of them that they have always longed to have. 

The more he stared at (Y/n) the more he was able to smile and be reassured that he was always going to have someone who understood him and did not judge him. 

He would gladly face the bullying of others if it meant he would be able to spend more time with the girl he had grown enamoured by. 

As months passed and the weather fluctuated, Tendou and (Y/n) remained friends. The group of people remained the way they were before and would not leave Tendou alone, however, this did not affect Tendou to the extent it had in the past. With (Y/n) and the volleyball team, he knew that there were people who looked out for him so he could rest assured that he would be fine as long as he ignored them. 

Within that period of time (Y/n)'s mental health was improving. She had yet to act on her emotions so she never screamed or overreacted as she used to as a result of Tendou constantly bringing her to the hill he had on the first week of their meeting. (Y/n)'s grandfather was also stated to have been getting better but it has yet to be determined if he would remain in the good state he is in now. 

(Y/n)'s relationships had also grown throughout the months she had spent at school. She was able to communicate with the majority of the team; for example, she, Shirabu and Semi were able to converse without having to pause to stop to think about a topic, and her and Yamagata's relationship had also grown as a result of them playing the same position.

Thinking back on all of the things she was able to accomplish throughout the time she has spent at Shiratorizawa, she smiled happily to herself. (Y/n) thought she could have not been luckier with what she currently had.
