Chapter 15

Warning: this chapter deals with sensetive topics such as rape.

Lakeville.

This town was much different than any we've passed through.

It was quiet, almost too quiet.
Hungry eyed people passed us,  glancing our way.

Still, we went on our way, avoiding the curious eyes of the towns people.

We were on our third day of walking when we decided that we should find a place to stay until the weather got a little better. It was getting colder now, which slowed our pace a little.

We found a meadow, where there was a stream for us to bathe so we planned to stay there for a few days.

Danny, however didn't really stay with us at night.
He would leave at around midnight and and not come back till the early morning.

When he came back, he carried plenty food with him, thus arousing my suspicion.

Food that I have never even tasted before!
We eated till we couldn't anymore.

"From a store owner, I told him about our situation and he agreed to help, I go for the food when it's closimg time." he told me when I confronted him about it.

I didn't beleive one word.

So tonight, I'm gonna follow him.

He got up and started down the road, like he usually does.
I wait about a minute before walking after him, I could make out his shadow thanks to the dim but not useless streetlights.

Then, as if he sensed someone following him, he turned back to look. I quickly dived behind some nearby bushes.

Did he see me?

He didn't, so he walked on.

He turned a few corners then stopped at a shop.
Maybe he's telling the truth after all.

Then what he does next suprises me.

He lifts up a sliding window at the front of the shop, and crawls through the tiny space.
The window looked as if the latch had broken.

what is wrong with this boy?!
Did he want to go back to jail?!

I follow after him and try to squeeze my hips through the window. I was successful, however I knocked down a few things.

This alarmed Danny as he looked like he was about to have heart failure.

"Gravity!" he whisper shouted. "The fuck are you doing here?!"

"You lied to me!"

"I- look I just wanted you guys to eat. Even that son of a bitch Joy keeps talking to"

"We said we wouldn't steal anymore Danny"

"I-"

"Just this last time ok?"

He passes me a plastic bag and says I should fill it to capacity.

"There are motion detecters in this place, but if we stay in this area we should be good"

I nod and start filling my bag. I spot a pack of some biscuits I always loved on the top of the shelf.

"Danny" I say and point to it.

He rolls his eyes but comes any way and reaches for it. When he gets it I reach out to grab it from him.

And because the universe hates us, he looses his footing and tries to lean against the shelf for support.
The shelf appearantly hates us too, cause when Danny leans on it it crashes into the other shelf beside it, and then the other one crashes into the next.

This goes on until almost every shelf in the store has fallen and we're standing there like a couple of idiots.
I'm too shocked to move and Danny looks like he's about to have heart failure for the second time tonight.

"Weeup Weeup Weeup"
The sound of an alarm suddenly goes off causing me to almost jump out of my skin.

Danny and I look at each other.

"Shit"

Joys POV.

I wake up at about 5am and realize both Danny and Gravity are gone.

It's not like them to leave so long, even if they did leave, they probably thought they would be back before we woke up.

"Where's Danny and Gravity?" Sam who just woke up asks me.

"I have no clue" I answer "but I'm gonna take a bath in the stream, so don't come around that side till I'm done" I add.

He nods but says nothing.

The water looks so beautiful this early, it's as flat as a mirror, with the orange and purple sky reflecting off it.

I look around just to double check that no one can see me.
I always felt like someone was watching me as I bathe.

I'm just paranoid.

I pull my shirt over my head, leaving my chest bare.
I reach for the button on my skirt but stop when I hear a noise. Like leaves crunching under a shoe.

I turn around to see Sam and quickly cover my chest with the shirt I took off.

"Sam, I told you not to come around here"

He steps closer.

"Sorry J just wanted to see you"

"you saw me just a while ago."

"Not like this I didn't"

"Sam go away so I can finish"

He smiles.

"Come on J don't you love me?" He steps closer and there's just 1 inch seperating us now. I hold the shirt tighter to my chest.

"Sam I said go away!!" I step back, trying to put some distance between us.

"Do you know how long I've waited for this?" He says. "You love me, I love you. What's the problem?"

"I- I'm not ready for that yet. ."

"Oh come on, it's just sex Joy!" He then grabs me roughly, surely leaving a bruse on my arm.
He uses his other hand to yank the shirt from my grip, leaving my chest bare.

"Sam please don't"

"Just relax J"

"No Sam, I don't want thi-"
I'm interupted by a familiar voice, not Sam's.

"What the fuck is going on here?!"
