I reached for my phone in my pocket. I tried calling Scott - no answer. I tried Alex - no answer. I tried Allison - her phone was off. I even tried Jackson - no answer. No one was answering.

I let out a frustrated sigh. "Is there no one on their phone or are they just ignoring me?"

"Lucy!" Derek called in a warning tone.

I turned around and the creature was behind me. I dropped my phone near Stiles's. I grabbed my pen, it turning into its staff.

"Be careful of its claws," Derek warned.

"Yeah, no shit!" I called back. "Deaton told me about its paralytic toxin."

I waited for it to come at me, but it didn't. So I went for it. I charged at it, then hopped over it, then swung Thorn. It hit its head and he hissed at me. It went at me and I ducked under it, however, upon turning, I tripped on its tail and fell back. I closed my eyes as the water enveloped me, almost like I was being given a baptism. There was no hope unless someone picked up their phone.

"Well, now that you've joined the party, a little help?" Stiles said.

I grabbed Derek's other arm. We stayed in the center of the pool, treading water while holding up a - what? One hundred thirty-pound man? Maybe more?

"I don't think I can do this much longer," Stiles breathed out.

"No, no, no, no!" Derek yelled. I looked at Stiles and shook my head. "Don't even think about it."

"Could you just trust me for once?" Stiles asked.

"No!"

"We're the ones keeping you alive," Stiles reminded. "Okay, have you noticed that?"

"Yeah... And when this paralysis is off, who's gonna be able to fight that thing? Certainly not Miss Bo Staff over here."

"On second thought, we can drop you, Derek, I swear to God if you insult me one more time," I sneered.

"You don't trust me. I don't trust you," he said more calmly. "But you need me to survive. That's why you're not letting me go."

Stiles let him go. Water was everywhere in my vision. The weight shifted again. Derek's head went underwater. I let him go for a moment, trying to regain some strength. Then, I took in a deep breath and dove underwater. I grabbed under his arm, trying to pull him up. I swear he got heavier.

I ran out of breath. I panicked, kicking back up. I took in a deep breath of air and Stiles was on the phone. I took in another breath and swam down. I lifted him off the waterbed and then Stiles had grabbed him, too, helping pull him up.

"Nothing?" I asked.

"Hung up," Stiles breathed out.

Another half-hour went by. We were getting tired. We started taking turns. I found a better way to hold Derek up without him slipping. As one held him, the other took a rest by lying on our backs. It was the most relaxed we could get.

"Okay, we need something to hold onto," I said, hoisting Derek up again.

"There," Stiles pointed. We started swimming that way, slowly. I reached up for one of the bars and successfully grabbed it. I held Derek under his arm still, but Stiles went under, and so did Derek.
