Chapter 20- Failing

It's a few weeks later and Harper has been working on her recovery a lot. As she has all this free time on her hands. She has her test today to determine whether she can go back to work or not. Kelly unfortunately can't be there as he is on shift. Harper stops by the firehouse before she goes
"You ready for this?" Casey asks
"I was born ready! I'm gonna be back here in no time!" Harper says smiling
"I've missed my best firefighter!" Boden says as he walks into the room
"Hey!" Everyone calls out
"I meant to say truck captain! Obviously!" Boden says as he walks over to Harper and pulls her into a big hug
"Favouritism!" Capp shouts
"Yeah how come you don't hug us?" Cruz shouts
Boden glares at both of them and they run out of the room.
"Oh look at the time! I've gotta get going!" Harper says with her voice sounding a little panicked
"Hey! Your gonna be great!" Casey says looking at Kelly
But Kelly doesn't say a word
"Sorry" Casey mouths
"It's all good!" Harper mouths before smiling at Kelly
Harper then walks out and drives to her doctors appointment. She arrives and is taken into a room. She does all kind of exercises without any pain at all. The doctor goes away and comes back in to break the news to Harper
"I can't clear you Mrs Severide" the doctor says looking at his papers
"What? Why not?" Harper asks shocked
"The damage to your leg may be fine now but it won't be if you keep this up" The doctor says placing the papers down on his desk
"No! I've been doing all the exercises that you have been telling me to do! I can drive! I can walk! I can run! God I can even lift my 3 year old twins!" Harper says panicking
"I'm sorry Mrs Severide! There's nothing more we can do!" The doctor says before walking out
Harper storms out and drives to the firehouse
"Are you coming back to us?" Casey asks enthusiastically
"Nope! They didn't clear me!" Harper says as Kelly let's out a sigh of relief
"What was that for?" Harper shouts looking at Kelly
"I mean would it be so bad if you never came back! You would be safer! And the kids would see more of you!" Kelly says
"This is about that stupid dream you had! I'm not leaving you Kelly wrap that around you head! I'm staying here!" Harper shouts
"What if you never come out of a fire! I can't go through that again! Not knowing if my wife will be alive tomorrow or not! Your always so selfish! What Harper wants Harper gets!" Kelly shouts before storming away
Harper stands there in shock
"Maybe I should have just died that night!" Harper whispers to herself
