Chapter 43- Barely Coping

Harper stands and watches the ambulance drive away. She doesn't really know what to do so she has just frozen
"Hey! Come here!" Casey says pulling her in for a hug
Just as Harper can respond to Casey she can hear sirens. The intelligence team pull up and jump out of their cars
"Harper!" Antonio calls out as they all rush over
But Harper doesn't respond she just stares into space
"I think she needs some rest!" Casey says guiding Harper away
"I Umm should get to the hospital" Harper says throwing caseys hands off her
"Your in no state to dive! Let me take you" Antonio says pointing at one of the intelligence cars
"No I can Umm drive" Harper says snapping out of it
Harper gets in her car and drives off. She pulls over in a parking lot and pulls out her phone. When she looks at her Lock Screen which is a picture of her and Kelly she just bursts out crying. She cry's alone in her car for a good 10 minutes before pulling herself together and driving away. She arrives at the hospital and the whole of 51 is gathered in the waiting room
"Where were you?" Gabby asks
"What are you! My secretary!" Harper shouts
"Okay! Sorry! My fault!" Gabby says
"Sorry! It's just a lot!" Harper says looking down at her leg
"You should get that checked out" Gabby says getting a closer look at her leg
"It's fine! I'll stitch it up when I get home" Harper says pulling her trouser leg up more
"Do you want to tell us what happened?" Casey asks
Harper then hesitates
""We were looking for my bag and heard a ticking sound. Turns out it was a bomb! I woke up and Kelly wasn't doing great so I Umm ran over to him and lay down next to him. He said goodbye to me and I couldn't accept it! He made me say I love you! And as soon as I said it he stopped breathing! It was like he was waiting for one last I love you! But maybe if I hadn't said it then he would be okay! Or if I hadn't got us into this mess! It's all my fault!" Harper says with tears in her eyes
"Hey! It's not your fault!" Boden says putting his hand on her shoulder
"Yeah kid! You did everything you could!" Mouch says smiling
"And Kelly's doing okay! He wouldn't leave you!" Gabby says
"He said that I should let him go! But I couldn't!" Harper says before standing up and going out to get some air
She stands in silence for a bit
"Maybe the CFD isn't the right place for me after all"Harper whispers to herself
