Chapter 45- Facing her fears

Harper walks out and sits in the driveway of the firehouse. She pulls her phone out to discover that she has gotten tagged in tons of different posts about the call this morning. She looks at some of the comments
"We pay taxes for this!!" One comment says
"Useless! Waste of space on this earth!" Another one says
"Looks like there letting anyone be a captain now!" Another comment says
Harper puts her phone away and all of the words stick in her head
"Useless! Waste of space! Disgraceful! There letting anyone be a captain! We pay taxes for this!" Harper's mind replays over and over again
Harper breaks out in a nervous sweat when she can feel a hand on her shoulder. She can also hear a voice very similar to Kelly's
"Kelly?!" Harper says as she turns around
"It's just me" Casey says softly with Boden standing next to him
"Sorry! I just have zoned out for a sec! Umm what's up?" Harper asks rubbing her eyes
"Go home Harper" Boden says
"What?!" Harper replies shocked
"Look! I don't care where you go! You can go home or to the hospital! Your in no state to be working right now! That last call wouldn't have effected you as much as it did if Kelly wasn't in the hospital!" Boden says as Harper stands up
"Please chief! I can't go home! I can't go to the hospital! The last time I spoke to my husband he said goodbye to me! I watched him almost die! I don't know what to say to him! Please don't make me go home! I need to stay here!" Harper says whilst sobbing
"Harper" Boden says putting his hand on her shoulder
"I can't do it anymore! Every day I come to work and worry about Kelly! I was the one who got us into this mess! I nearly killed my husband and then today I killed Dale! Another one I couldn't save! Please don't make me go home chief! Casey come on tell him!"Harper says panicking
But Casey just looks down at the ground before gabby walks over
"Come here! I'll walk you to your car" Gabby says taking Harper's hand
They walk away and Boden turns to Casey
"Call Dr.Charles! Make sure she drops by the hospital" Boden says before walking away
Harper gets in her car and drives away. Somehow she ends up in the hospital parking lot. She sits in her car and thinks about not going in but she knows she needs to face her fears. She gets out of her car and walks in
"Harper!" Dr. Charles says enthusiastically
"I'm Umm here to see Kelly?" Harper asks holding back the tears
"Come on! I'll show you!" Dr.Charles says calmly
They walk to Kelly's room and Dr.Charles leaves Harper alone. She walks in to see Kelly's unconscious body lying on the bed
"I'm so sorry Kelly" Harper says with a single tear rolling down her face....
