The trees fly by in streaks of blurriness, the dirt digging into their shoes. The air feels soothing, yet suffocating at the same time. With the idea that wolves are somewhere in the forest, hidden by the darkness that engulfs it, burns in their minds as they hope that they can make it to the otherside of the treaty line without the pack finding them.

It seems hope can only go so far.

Mariposa groans angrily when she hears the sound of paws thudding on the earth, nearing closer to her, Emmett, Esme, and Carlisle. She had agreed to come with them as they came to hunt since the doctor needed to perform the delivery for Bella's baby and needed his energy to do said act, aiding them for extra protection, even if Jasper and Edward hated the idea. The brunette falls behind Esme, the weakest of them all, hoping the wolves will come at her and not the matriarch of the family. Suddenly, they both tumble down a hill, rolling down in the leaves before landing with a thud. Mariposa winces at the pain at the back of her head, but has no time to check on herself as the two wolves that attacked them stand on their legs, growling at the two women.

"Shit, new wolves." Mariposa curses under her breath, holding Esme behind her as she notices that the two animals were not ones she recognized. They circle around them like predators waiting for their prey to make a move to run before pouncing on them. "This just got a lot harder."

When they decide to attack them, Emmett makes his appearance by pushing the wolves away, and into a tree. Carlisle quickly runs in to take his wife into his arms, going to run away but looks back when Mariposa stays in her place, her eyes stuck on the animals who were slowly getting back up. "Mari, let's go." The doctor tells her hurryingly.

"You go. I'll hold them back." Mariposa says, swiftly pulling her silver stake from her sleeve, the moon shining on it. "Go! You're wasting time!" She adds when they hesitate to leave her behind.

They finally leave, disappearing in blurs. The brunette sighs with a sarcastic smile on her face as the wolves finally get their consciousness back, their eyes immediately at her frame, a dangerous glint in them. "You wanted a fight? Here it is then, morons."

She runs at them, throwing her fist out to hit one of the wolves, one that emits a whimper from him. Her hand that holds her stake flies out to swipe at his packbrother, drawing blood that drips down the weapon. Mariposa grunts when she lands on her back after the wolf she punched, pushes her to the ground. He appears on top of her, his giant teeth baring close to her face. She can taste the blood in her mouth as her right leg kicks out to push him over her body, his head colliding with a tree, rendering him unconscious. "One down, one more to go." She spits the blood out that was pooling in her mouth. The final wolf howls into the air before advancing towards the girl. She dodges his teeth that snap at her, punching his chest and kicking him onto his back. He gets back up and runs back at her, snarls filling the air as he tries to bite her. Mariposa finally knocks him out by throwing her elbow into his head, his body colliding with the ground in a thud.
