The chatter of the pack rings out in her ears as her leg bounces up and down rapidly. Her head is placed in her hands, deep breaths entering and falling from her lips. She feels nauseated, her throat closes up every time she swallows. Kim's and Emily's hands run up and down her back soothingly. The sun is rising back into the sky meaning it had been a good long hours after the appearance of Alice Cullen back in Forks, and the vampire and Bella Swan leaving to go to Italy.

"But, they're part of the pack, regardless of imprint or not. They left them. I could give a damn about the treaty if her house resides on Cullen land." Elliot tells Sam, clearly upset and angry with the outcome of things. "She's a pack member and I won't stand to leave her and Sophia unprotected and vulnerable."

"I know this is affecting you as well as everyone else, but we need to keep a straight mind." Sam's voice is laced with his alpha tone. "I don't want a fight between us and the Cullens."

"Straight mind," Paul scoffs, disregarding the word. "We're allowed to be in her house just like we are now because we're her family, not those bloodsuckers. I'm not fucking calling off their protection."

Mariposa abruptly stands up, gaining the attention of everyone. Embry frowns as he notices her shaky hands run through her hair. "I'm sorry. I can't listen to this anymore."

The brunette walks out of the living room, and into her own room, sitting down on her bed. Her body shakes with nerves as she ponders about the Cullen family coming back to Forks. Her mind races with the idea of facing her friends again and him. Sophia is also on her mind. She doesn't know how the little girl is going to react about seeing him. Would she be happy or upset? Mariposa doesn't know anything. She doesn't even know why she's nervous, she just is.

A soft knock on the door interrupts her from fighting with her own mind. The girl looks up to see Embry walking in with a small smile etched on his face. "Hey," He greets her softly as he takes a seat next to her.

"Where is everyone?" She asks but its mumbles since she put her head into his chest, seeking comfort.

"They all went home. The pack agreed to meet with the Cullens about adding some amendments to the treaty. We're meeting with them when they come back." He explains as he wraps his arms around her, shuffling so they were laying on her bed. His hand moves to run his fingers through her hair as he talks again. "You don't have to come with us. It'll be quick."

"No," She shakes her head. "I want to go. I have to face them one way or another."

After that, the two lay in silence, the only movement between them is Embry running his fingers through her hair. But it changes when the girl rolls over onto her stomach to rest her chin on his chest. Her hand slips into his free one that rests on his stomach. She leans up to peck his lips twice, the last one lingering for a bit before she pulls back.

"What was that for?" Embry chuckles. "Not that I'm complaining."

The brunette shrugs, smiling. "Just for being there for me." She simply says.
