They say waking up to the birds chirping, the sun flowing through your blinds, and the soft smell of breakfast is a nice way to wake up but not for Mariposa. The thing that wakes her up in the morning is her mother's excessive yelling and complains—and of course a babbling baby.

The teen groans as she grabs the pillow underneath her and presses it into her face, a muffled, "Shut up, mom! It's five in the morning!" coming out of it.

Her door opening loudly and harshly makes her take off the pillow from her face to glare at her mother, who's pissed off. "Get up, Mariposa. Now." Gina demands before leaving and slamming the door behind her.

Sticking the middle finger up at the door, she gets up from her bed and walks into her closet, picking clothes out for herself and Sophia—as well as packing a bag for the child.

When she's done with that, the brunette girl picks up her baby, cooing at her, and quickly changes her into the clothes before putting her back in her crib along with some toys.

Mariposa leaves her bedroom and goes to the bathroom to take a quick shower and brush her teeth.  After her quick shower, she changes into a pair of blue jeans, a gray cropped turtleneck, and black combat boots. She quickly runs a brush through her wavy brunette hair and leaving it to air dry before putting on minimal makeup—mascara, lip balm, and a soft blush.

With that done, she grabs her phone, car keys, school bag, Sophia's bag, and, of course, Sophia. The girl quickly but carefully walks down the stairs and into the living room where she puts her daughter in the car seat and putting the slightly heavy necessity on the couch. Mariposa walks into the kitchen and quickly makes herself toast, eating that quick, and a few baby bottles.

Mariposa grabs the bottles and puts them in the baby bag before grabbing that and her other belongings and rushing out the door. She places the bags on the floor of the back seats of her black Volvo C30 before putting the car seat with a squealing baby in the seat behind the driver's and locking it in place.

"There we go. Now time to go meet the lady who's going to take care of you because the wicked witch doesn't want to." She coos at Sophia as she sits down in the car, starting it and driving towards the Reservation.

The drive there wasn't long, it took her about ten minutes to get there and to the house of Emily Young and Sam Uley. They lived on La Push, the Reservation of the Quileute Tribe. According to her research, they had a small population of 371 people and had a neighboring tribe as well, the Makah Tribe, where Emily was from. The Native American woman seems to be a nice and caring person from what Mariposa heard from the phone call they had—the girl's mom ended up giving her the number of said woman, who she is friends with, after getting tired of her daughter's nagging.

Mariposa parks her car in front of a small, comfy house. She hears a distant woman's yelling and loud laughter from coming inside the house, causing her to raise a perfectly shaped eyebrow. "Well, we're here Phia." She says as she gets out of the car and gets the baby bag and the car seat.
